@Uksteveg, I doubt they’ve made this declaration without knowing exactly what the roadmap is going to look like and imo, working through those considerations is exactly what has been behind the radio silence from BE which has been in place for a very long time. I cannot believe we’ll have to wait any longer than the analysts call on Monday for the way forward being made clear. Questions are undoubtedly going to be asked and having now broken the news of this ‘reset’ they surely must be well prepared to answer them. I cannot believe they intend to hide behind further ambiguity now this has been released.

The market does not like uncertainty, it needs direction. Having now disclosed the ‘ intention’ AND declaring that it hopes to carve off BE … but “will maintain a strategic investment in the company” … FM now needs to quickly follow that up and provide a clear and precise roadmap laying out the all the implications intentions and timescales, also including itemising exactly what parts of the group will be “carved off” for this “reset”
Without a clear roadmap of their intentions, imo, the sp will be going nowhere anytime soon.

As I’ve previously posted, BELCO which includes the ELZ plant is owned and operated by BMN, not BE.
Together with its investments in the enerox side, BMN’s ambitions to be a vertically integrated company are still very much on track. BE is focused on project management, exactly what MN is best suited for imo. And we will almost certainly intend to retain a large shareholding in BE

Project development in Africa is not for the impatient or faint of heart. Our team achieved financial close on a solar and long duration storage project this week, showing that it can be done.

The technical and financial details are in the public announcement, but the 3 year journey to get to this stage need not be lost. Yes, we knew this was a novel project and bringing in external capital increased the due diligence on everything.

Our unexpected ups and downs included going through many partners on the financial and EPC sides (and we have a lot of respect for people at those organisations.) Beyond that we were hit with regulatory changes, a global pandemic and roller-coaster exchange rates.

Our previous principal Technical Engineer, Pat Frampton, also passed away just over a year ago during the process. We continue to miss him and his contribution.

That is a lot of reasons to give up. I am very proud of our current and previous team for their perseverance and creativity. I am also grateful to the Board of Bushveld Minerals, for sharing our vision, resolve and desire to innovate and do more in South Africa.

It also proves that having a good project and enough patience to complete all the requirements, will get it banked eventually, and energy delivery will increase.

Thank you to our current collaborators, NESA and ABSA. There is still work to be done on this project and even more opportunities lie ahead.

BMN is a listed company. Shareholders own the company. Shareholders have to provide 75% majority vote acceptance of any buy out proposals (price) received.

Progress procurement and construction of the electrolyte plant. In order to ensure closer alignment of all vanadium operating facilities, BELCO will migrate to the Bushveld Vanadium platform both operationally and in ownership.

That isn’t BE’s responsibility, it’s down to Bushveld Vanadium who are the owners and operators of BELCO which includes the ELZ electrolyte facility to progress that … not BE.

That’s fine FB, having closely followed the court case AND the summing up, I wasn’t aware of there being any suggestion of an rto directly involving BMN. Have you got a link to the narrative that validates that aspect?

Commissioning was due to start after the specialist instal of the chemical making equipment . That commissioning and testing of the purity of products from that equipment is expected to take around 6 months with commercial production starting up and be on line, if all goes well to timescale by end of March 2023.

BMN’s appointed nomad has made it clear that the Chinese quoted price for V is less the import duty. Other opinions are available.

Eskom is close to concluding agreements with suppliers to provide around 1.4GWh of battery energy storage.

During its State of the System briefing on Thursday, the utility revealed the tender for Phase 1 of its Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) project had closed, and the management had finished considering the bids.

Eskom COO Jan Oberholzer told MyBroadband they recommended three suppliers to the board, which were approved.

The utility has now completed pre-contract award discussions with the successful bidders and provided them with draft contract documents.

Oberholzer stated that one of the bidders had already signed on to the project, while Eskom was awaiting sign-off from the other two.

He also said he would consult with the project’s team leader regarding releasing the names of the providers once all the respective contracts had been signed.

The batteries from the project will be installed at Eskom’s substations, including those at its renewable energy power stations, to hold and release energy as required.
