I looked into this and I believe FXPO has Arc furnaces than the old blast furnaces. Arc furnaces use electricity whilst blast furnaces use fossil fuels like the coke coal. FXPO will suffer minor from no demand from Ukraine and that's about it whilst most of it's revenues now or in the past has really been from abroad. Asia first and then Europe, yet the Ukraine Proxy war has ruin the logistics to Asia and not enough electricity for people to keep warm or produce anything.

as for russia's currency depreciation, does it matter in the grand scheme of things? does russia buys tons of imported goods from the west? does russia have plenty of foreign reserves, gold and hence a trade surpluses? does russian tourism out of russia matter to putin? is this a dirty float low currency created by russia to attract foreign buyers to buy more cheap russian goods than from the west? my suspicions is that as we transition away from oil from the west, the demand and price of oil will fall and a glut over production of supply in oil. therefore, russia having erratic interest rates and inflation as attributed by the war is part of the norm but it seems logical to dirty float a low currency to maintain healthy loyal customer base for russia goods (in reference to oil) is the real objective. i seriously doubt he wants an opec oil fight where everyone (oil producing countries) are increasing production and lowering oil prices to force each other out the oil market. russia is smart and cleverly doing it the currency manipulation way. russia wants the ruble to become rubble as usa drill baby drill won't be good for it's country in the future where the world is in oil surplus .
