Today's FTSE volatility and range trading is a dream ticket for the straddle strategy see chart. If only this wasn't a demo but the live would not be as spectacular as I can't afford 1k size bets, my money management would not allow it. The only reason I use £1k bets on the demo is it reinforces the view that one only needs a few pips profit on each trade many times to build up a healthy bank. The same applied to lower sized bets has the same affect. Too many on the share boards are after that one crock of gold, put way too much into a single share, hold on too long and watch a profit disappear.The discipline of £1k bets is such that if one is making a profit of say £2k to £3k profit representing only 2 or 3 pips in your favour there is a tendency to cash in, whereas if it were a £2 bet representing £4 or £6 profit there is a tendency to let it ride. If you check the previous straddle results individual trade wins were on average £6k to £7k representing 6 to 7 pips. Every little helps and soon mounts up. I then use the same mentality on the live account telling my self if this was a 1k bet would I lock in the profit. If the answer was yes then the profit would be locked in even if it were £3, £30 or £300. This only applies to range trading AND scalping. I am finding the best way to play it is to establish the daily range for whatever you will use it on. pick a mid price in that range and do the straddle but with no stop loss but set stop profit limits. Only bank profit.If LEFT with a losING TRADE bet in direction of that loss to pick up more profit and stem the loss. The T line is very helpful for identifying reversals together with of course the candlestick formation first.Still need fine tuning so don't attempt it in live trades yet only demo until you are confident that you can operate it. Good morning AdJshares. I didn't have the time to watch it and have not received the recording either. Try registering to receive their free emails if you have not already done so and check SB's website. Recordings of various past webinars are listed. It may be there. Haven't got round to looking at your CPX chart yet as was busy trying to find winners at the Cheltenham festival which ended yesterday. Don't make a lot of money on the horses but that is pure gambling. Winning there is sweeter and more enjoyable than here even though this is where the money is. GLITA

Highlight of Cheltenham for me has got to be our namesake UNOWHATIMEANHARRY where I got 12/1. This horse has excelled this season and won me a lot of money. I nearly cashed out the single bet but its so difficult to do so during the race. Very hit and miss as odds keep changing. Glad on that occassion it missed and he won. Usually they hit and the horse wins but there have been occassions when they have hit and the horse loses. Win some lose some. Had a quick look at the cards today.Not very good for a Saturday. Have to wait for Harry's selections. Maybe he has a hangover from yesterday's regimental dinner?!! not like him to be this late! GLA

HAD both the joint fifths ew at very good odds in the last chelt race but betfair was only paying 4 places I think. will have to check odds checker in future and use my other betting accounts more often. still up on the day and got my first ew yankee. It was going so well with the first 2 winners at 12/1 and 3/1.. oh well
