If it were an American Investor for the asset, I'm pretty sure that any purchase would need to be made via a more circuitous route ;-)
I would expect some kind of concurrent DD where several parties are involved. But that isn't based on anything other than my own logic.

We know that Norilsk have already put huge funds aside for acquisition, for a listed Russian firm to buy from a Russian dominated firm. We know China, Japan, and South Africa are the other "interested parties". We know none of these countries are actively seeking drastic sanctions against Russia. We know that by far the largest contributor to Government funds are taxes from mineral exploitation. We know the acquisition side had progressed to the legals. We know the current Ukraine situation has seen a massive overreaction in the markets, even to stock without Russian connections.
It's understandable to be nervous, but don't throw the baby out with the dishwater, this is still a massive deal involving nations that are currently not in conflict with each other.

I find its always worthwhile questioning how ones opinions are driven by subconscious emotions. Often with the realisation that my view is not always purely driven by logic.

Most Russians are decent people also.
Unfortunately they have an ingrained power structure that allows for a mentally unstable individual to stay in power endlessly. At least it only took four years to remove the individual in the U.S.

Just a message to say, during these uncertain times, keep the faith in the amazing potential this company has. We know there's increased risk at the moment, but the fundamentals are there. It doesn't help when the board is infested with low lives like truthfactory(obviously ironic) incessantly posting their negative spin. Mmmm, wonder what their agenda is lol :-)
Good luck to all LTHs' and genuinely decent people. The rest, its a sad fact but you will probably live your lives oblivious to the affect you poison is having on yourselves. I truly would love to meet some of you face to face, unfortunately you will continue to hide behind you screens and feel some kind of perverse satisfaction. Says it all really.

Don't think the BOD could spell it out any clearer: There is currently nothing to prevent the liquidity event and the parties involved make it unlikely to be affected going forward. :-)

I think most were aware of the Russia, china, japan situation, the South Africa part is also no surprise with regards directors previous roles. That's why many LTHs' are still LTHs' ;-)

It's a pity that the individuals who feel strongly enough to start a war, can't just put their own necks on the line, instead of the innocents in their population. I've a feeling there would not be too many wars ;-)

Fair enough Mannamead. But we all know what the obvious risks are at this moment in time, and that has been reflected in the sp. The "potential" is absolutely huge, but not without risk. The bod have just spelt it out, their interested parties are Russian, Chinese, Japanese, and South African. Three of those countries are not the target of any sanctions and the other is unlikely to cripple itself further by screwing around with the remaining businesses in the country, especially with the huge potential of tax revenues.. Why not focus on all the positives regarding this share, notwithstanding the current s.p. :-)

The Rns confirms why i've been holding tight, its unlikely the "interested parties" are going to be directly affected by western or Russian sanctions.

I know many holders are going through nervous times at the moment, but we're not the only ones. Think of all of the work carried out by the bank brokering the deal and the law firm, they must be moving heaven and earth now to make this deal happen.

...............that one of the lines used to spread fear to holders is that it's a 50/50 whether this comes good in the end or folds.
From where I'm viewing it, the maximum loss per share from this point on is less than 8p, whilst the potential upside although delayed, is limitless. For those that say it's just a gamble, seems like a good one to me :-)
