As noted in the Circular, should the Company be unable to complete the Capital Reorganisation and therefore avail of the Equity Financing Facility, it would be left with a limited pool of alternative options and there would be material uncertainty over the going concern status of the Company. Following the results of today's General Meeting, the Board will seek to preserve the Company's cash resources as far as practicable, and will urgently explore alternative sources of funding. However, there can be no guarantee that the Company will be able to find alternative sources of funding on a timely basis. If alternative funding is not available, the Directors believe that it is likely that the Company could be forced to enter into administration.

Alliance News) - Climate science and AI safety are among the sectors receiving funding as part of a GBP55 billion boost for research & development, the UK government has said.

The long-term funding will be available for UK research agencies and bodies to support R&D in a range of sectors areas including clean energy and health, the Department for Science, Innovation & Technology, DSIT, said on Thursday.

The funding allocations confirmed on Thursday come from the GBP86 billion package for science and technology R&D announced by the chancellor at the spending review in June, the DSIT added.

Science & Technology Secretary Liz Kendall marked the announcement with a visit to tech titan IBM Corp's London office on Wednesday, where she toured facilities and admired a robotic dog and a quantum computer.

The company is currently working in partnership with publicly-funded researchers looking at how AI and supercomputing could be used to discover new medicines and breakthroughs in clean energy, the DSIT said.
