Somehow we have managed it. To that I raise a glass. Nowhere near the recent rises though in Card Factory and Hammerson, which I mentioned on here as completely overlooked retail stocks that had made no vaccine related recovery.

Just shows how farcically low they took this share price and what a glaring bargain it was at 31p (albeit with a slight break)

I've top sliced just in case it goes the same way into reverse and am very happy with my gains.

By the way the trading algorythm's are playing this you would have to say they are accumulating today as well.

I don't know if you participated in the recovery in the share price of Cineworld. It went as low as 16p with significant short positions and over there MS along with Goldman Sachs day traded the shares on the way back up. But whilst they were doing that a Chinese conglomerate called Jangho kept on accumulating stock in chunks and had accumulated a near 15% stake. That eclipsed eclipsed all short positions and took liquidity out of the market. MS missed out though on some of those jumps.

I could be completely wrong here but see similarities with an overly depressed share price, sizeable short positions (and those showing over 0.5% probably only scratching the surface, building blocks for recovery falling into place by the day, macro environment changing in their favour, and I just wonder if MS actually learned a big lesson over there and have decided instead to build up a solid position in HMSO just as Jangho have done on Cineworld (share price now 102p).

Its cannot be any coincidence that they are steadily increasing their holdings as the vaccination program continues to excel and ahead of shops reopening on the 12th April.

It will be interesting to see how high they take their stake building and if the exceed the declared short positions. If so then they could be looking to emulate Jangho on Cineworld.

Ultimately they are here for a profit and I am happy to profit also off the back of their arrival and stake building.

Gusto1, the MM's or MS etc are imho still trying to squeeze as much as they can out of anyone wishing to sell and without giving them what should be a fair and real return.

All Retail reopened, and permanently and irreversibly so, is a completely different economic outlook for the retailers and their landlords being the operators of large shopping centres, designer parks, retail parks. It is a completely different outlook from all the uncertainty of tiered restrictions and lockdowns although strangely the sp is still hardly reflective of that yet.

Add in an "online shopping levy" if that gets announced and that is a seismic shift and should start to equalise things up in terms of the actual operating costs of sales between those sold by Bricks and Mortar Retail and those sold Online.

*Then lets keep the vaccines rolling out (and there is an abundance coming in March)
*Then shops reopening on April 12th
*More vaccine impacts and lessening restrictions like 2 metre gaps for instance the ability to reopen changing rooms and try things on would give Bricks and mortar retail one of its main competitive advantages back. NB: There is a Govt report commissioned on social distancing and preventative measures which is set to report back by 17th June. It is one of the 4 commissioned by the Government across the back of the Roadmap for Unlocking.

Any return to normality will ultimately mean more and more rents fully paid on time (plus also any agreed previous defaults and deferred payment plans).
