“A market engagement exercise for DHSC was carried out at pace due to the urgent requirement and, through this engagement the Supplier was identified as being able to offer a directly relevant package of support to the selected manufacturers.”
Looks like Toyota are providing consultation services for ramping up production in multiple overseas locations. Is how I read it...
/forlorn look
“We’re going to need a bigger boat...”
This is very curious. Is the Government drawing on Toyota’s expertise and knowledge of multiple production sites all over the world? What of their knowledge of automated production lines? What on Earth has that got to do with LFTs other than putting two and two together.
I’m probably wildly off the mark but this is bizarre...

Some typical anti-Republican rhetoric in there from the Guardian! Who would’ve thought...
Either way, testing is here to stay. I had my first jab the other day and was told booster (3rd) shots will be administered to vulnerable groups this autumn. I fear this will be the western world for the foreseeable...
The proof of the pudding will be a complete relaxation of all restrictions over the winter months. Bearing in mind the vaccine isn’t 100% effective and variants / mutations are going to bounce around the world until we achieve vaccine immunity, the requirement to test will be years not months.
Look at India as an example of a country who thought they’d achieved herd immunity and seen the last of the pandemic.
I’ve said it before, IMHO - there won’t be a concerted PR campaign until the ink dries on whatever contract the Govt decides to award. Joe Public doesn’t care what is currently under development, only when we can get back into bars and clubs and theatres and go on holiday.
The only time you want them to pay attention is when you’re just about to roll out the Super Sovereign LFT, Made In UK, look how clever we are! “Everyone can safely and confidently use this clinically validated test in an effort to keep an eye on any outbreaks and this is how we would like you to do it....”
The best thing we can all to with these boxes of chinese tat is use them and report the results on the Govt website. If there’s a demonstrable uptake there’s a solid case for continuing a mass testing programme. The worst thing you can do is bin them.

It’s an old clip. With continued exposure and potential best-in-class performance, perhaps we’ll see a shift in the dialogue.
Not entirely true, Stodgy. AS has even suggested they are not intended as a replacement for MAbs in most applications - where they do a perfectly good job. But can be used when they are better suited for particular functions.
