Why are you concerned with the number of shares a company has? All companies have different amounts. Surely the market cap relative to potential value is what counts?

you can fill in the W-8 form on HL website. Only takes a few mins, and easy to do. From memory it lasts a couple of years, then it needs redoing again. Easy-peasey

So if a company owned 10% and wanted to takeover, it would be cheaper for them to sell all their shares (assuming they held shares bought at a higher price than the current sp), and then attempt a takeover at a lower price now that they owned 0%...

An MM can hold up to 10% of all shares without declaring it (I believe). Multiple MM's could collectively gather even more.....
