Tigra,
Thank you for your apology.
You state 'I have lots of personal experience in the charitable sector and working with NGOs. They disgust me'. You clearly have had some bad experiences with working with charities, but please don't damn them all because of it.
Most of us on this board are in a very priveleged position and we should do our best to give something back, and that should perhaps be, as others have suggested, by giving to a local good cause that you know.
In Tigra's post:
" some creature turned up out of the blue virtue signalling telling people on here to donate to a specific charity and post their pledges online so everyone can see and shame them if they don't follow through."
That was me. I am a long time holder here, and if you read my post you will see I was making a perfectly reasonable request that people put some of their profits into charity of their choice.. Do I really deserve such criticism for making that request?
A lot of us are going to make (or may have already made) a lot of money out of this share. I would like to ask you to pledge to yourself that you will give x% of the profit to a charity of your choice.
Some will want to keep any donation strictly private.
Some may find that writing a pledge on here will help remind them to make the donation.
Some of the views expressed last evening on this thread were contentious, even abusive, but no matter, I simply want to encourage you to think about it.
From previous postings I have seen that there is no appetite for any organised giving to charity. I am therefore simply asking that each person who makes a profit from the Herculean sale pledges to themselves that they will donate x percent to the charity of their choice.
You may want to record it here so that your pledge is in writing and you will then be more likely to honour it.
I will start the ball rolling by pledging at least 3% to a food bank charity such as the Trussell Trust.
If there is any desire to organise a charitable giving then I am prepared to volunteer.
I also promise to annoy everyone by continually repeating this message.
I can't believe that Rosgeo enterred into a JV agreement without knowing the outcome of the Sale. There must already be an agreement even if the final Sale contract has not been signed.
If the whole company is being sold then Rosgeo must be happy with the buyer, but more likely the Sale will be of assets, leaving Rosgeo in a JV with EAU, who will then have the cash for development.
Dcat - I am all for your approach at trying to push the price up but... At various times on different shares I have studied L2, then bought - and had no effect at all! Do you have any insight on how to influence the price?
Can't give you a definitive answer but I understand that brokers do tell HMRC their deals. As to whether HMRC will chase a small amount - that's your gamble. I hope EUA gains are not small! My advice is move everything to non taxable such as ISA, and declare the rest.
