btc global hashrate up almost 5% in the last 24 hours. looks like the miners in kazakhstan are turning their machines back on / internet service has been restored. still a ways to go to get to the level that the hashrate was at at the beginning of the month though.
"argo is clean; mara is dirty". I love that tag. and it is literally true, in more ways than one.
off-piste - I suggest you read the posts on the BB since the first of the year. that will "explain" the "funding" situation wrt Helios / build-out to 3,7Eh.
aldebran - your last sentence is ignorant. why would any company "shut down", if they are still making money...? You do know what the ARB BTC "break-even" price is ? Even at 30k BTC, Argo would be doing very well.
the "november mistake" appears to be a GBP / USD mix-up. The original figure of "1,108,192" is the approx. GBP equivalent to the new figure.("USD $1,496,606"). I would assume they caught this now, as they are in the process of finalizing the Q4 numbers and will soon submit the "official" reports. Although certainly "not material", These types of errors, in light of the company's recent history, do not throw a "good light" on Argo and makes one wonder how good their internal controls are. I guess they still get a pass, considering they are still, basically, a start-up.
re. the Mara "drama": This is a perfect example of what PW needs to be very careful about. All it takes is a single mistake (real, or perceived) and the sheister-sharks will be all over him. That faux pas a couple of months ago when the twitter guy spoke with several of the execs. and then tweeted it out there could easily destroy a company (and most-definitely lead to a CEO resignation). I guarantee that anything that the company releases now (videos, Q&A, RNS, whatever) gets thoroughly vetted by a legal advisor before it hits the airwaves. The USA is no joke, when it comes to things like this.
Blubay - global hash rate has come down from 202 Eh on Sunday to about 175 Eh currently. a pretty significant drop. It remains to be seen how fast the Kaz. rigs can be brought back on-line. lots of speculation by everyone currently; This will certainly impact mining difficulty over the next few weeks. Let's see what happens to mining difficulty in about 2 weeks time.
correct. the website I initially checked is not being updated apparently. The adjustment tomorrow morning should be less than +1%, based on the latest blocktime. sorry about the bogus info.
re. diff. adjustment: several sites list 13,9 as current difficulty and project 12,4 when it adjusts tomorrow. (ca. 10% drop). it makes sense, and the hash rate drop since Sunday would seem to support this.....
BTC mining difficulty to adjust tomorrow (ca. -10%). Prob. Kazakhstan related.
AB - you think maybe Argo got a "very good deal" on the 20k S19s (price never disclosed) because Argo was able to negotiate the "warranty" portion of the price off of the unit price? I would expect that overclocking would be excluded from the warranty conditions and if Argo is planning to overclock the rigs from day-1, and based on the "mean time between failure" statistics, maybe it makes sense to buy the units w/o warranty and get maybe a 10% or 20% discount....this might be a stretch, but since the standard warranty is normally 6 months and immersion cooling should decrease the "wear and tear" on the rigs, then "who needs a warranty"......?
I would expect several RNS over the next few weeks. It would seem that PW should want to get cracking in 2022.
not sure how many technicians on site (24/7) at the canadian sites. it would make sense to consolidate everything in Texas - could save quite a bit w/ synergies.
I think that the s17 downtime issue will be resolved when the fans are removed for immersion. I think pw or perry confirmed this in the blonity interview
EPic is a big question mark still. Maybe pw will knock our socks off with an rns next week...
Plenty of s17 second hand, cheap, immed. Available, and perry can go
go full throttle w with them since they are out of warranty.
Gonna be hard to get helios running in Feb with no rigs.
Chuz - I think your point re. what argo paid for the 20k S19s was also mentioned by PW. Argo was apparently "not allowed" to disclose this, which immediately made everyone suspicious. make no mistake about it - Argo will need at least an additional 150-200 mil. in 2022. Your guess is as good as mine as to which "lever" they will pull. I cannot see them disposing of their canadian sites, unless a "displaced chinese-miner" offers them a ridiculous price.....
ARgobull - I would be extremely disappointed, even scared, if ARgo has not yet decided how they will kit out Helios. All we currently know is that 20k S19s will be delivered between Q2 & the end of Q3......assuming there are no delays....I expect we will find out a lot more in January.
I agree: PW is currently killing it. His CNBC interview on the closing bell the other day was flawless.
