roddy is trying to be clever: associating Helios with that supposedly hot place that "sinners" are supposedly sent to....
would appreciate comments re. PW at the end of the video, mentioning consolidation in the space, kind of "by the way".....and also how some of the "small fish" in the mining space will become prey....
agree with your comment bury; however, PW style has always been sort of "anti-wall street"; his subtle way of flipping them the bird, although he rightly knows how irreplaceable they are with regards to funding.....
I think Bitmain may have agreed to give them an additional few %, agreeing to ship these S19s without fans, since it was known they would be immersion-cooled.
Lotto - I assume you remember how argo handled things last year - they issued a flurry of RNSs, which pumped the SP and then did a dilution, taking advantage of the SP bump. Also, you do know that Argo are in the "quiet period" before earnings....? I serious doubt that PW will do an equity funding with the SP below 1 pound. Assuming that Argo announces their Q4 earnings in the next week or 2, there should be several argo "news-quakes" in the immediate aftermath. IMHO
I wonder what this news means wrt the Epic partnership....is that ever gonna come to fruition....?
gawd, you imagine how the CFOs of the miners who have ordered (down-payment already wired) massive numbers of S19s are feeling today.....
PW can mortgage Helios, as well as the canadian sites. that would (should) bring in enough to pay the balance on the already-ordered mining rigs.
Q4 results due soon me thinks
Argo is in quiet period folks
come on Chaebol, try to keep it real, as much as possible!: "data showed that failure to winterize power sources, primarily those of natural gas, had caused the grid failure". I know u can do better than that, mate.
Chaebol - the only thing the mara has done right (admittedly, better than everyone else) is take advantage of financial markets in the US and raise capital. They then placed huge orders for rigs and then took advantage of the surrounding hype, raised more funds and bought a large chunk of BTC. Mara has certainly under-performed wrt execution (delays), and surprise surprise, are now seriously looking into immersion cooling. What happens with the class action lawsuit remains to be seen, but it will most definitely remain a drag on the SP until resolved. As far as "putting the miners in containers" is concerned, I seem to recall that this is how the rigs are set-up, like a module, so all one has to do is rack up / install the miners in the container, put the containers in a building, plug in the power source and begin mining. The containers are not to be seen as "storage" units but as mining modules, as far as I know. You or me and anyone else with a billion bucks could copy the Mara strategy - place huge orders with Bitmain and then arrange for core-scientific to handle the hosting. I prefer the PW strategy. To each his own.
chaebol: "I’m just gonna call you something that rhymes with punt ;)
are you trying to say that LA is a runt? shame on you; that is not very nice.
BTC action was certainly way more exciting last year when the chinese were heavily "engaged". different times now.
good point flowerpot. also no ZEC, and even more important and which has been a topic of late: How much of your total available hashrate was on-line, mining.
K3 - the actual ROI is much higher I think. I seem to remember that a significant amount of the investment was done using DOT, which Argo had purchased for "cents".
the pluto thing is a stock deal, so PW may just ride this out. Arb only get cash when they sell shares. maybe some kid of bidding war will develop.
looks like a bunch of low-margin miners turned off their rigs due to BTC crash and difficulty increase. Total network hashrate is down about 20% over the past 24 hours.
either the russian rigs will be moved to another country by their current owners or the rigs will be sold on the second-hand market. i think the current "russian" hashrate is about 10% of the global total. this is a non-event wrt the big-picture. The Russian state and/or a few of Putin's Oligarch friends will certainly continue mining BTC, in the shadows.
global btc hashrate jumped almost 15% in the last 24 hours.....
