Any idea of the financial threat to NLCC?
I watched the ANGS appeal, some councillors wanted to suspend the application until certain concerns, eg earthquakes, were investigated (ffs). The leader made it clear that they had no power to request such a demand (this is for national government), so no technical reason to object. Also it was made clear it was NOT fracking, The council tech expert was quite annoyed that his advice was being largely ignored,
Also, if suspended the.company would just go to a higher level and get it passed anyway. I guess it could cost their council dear. It clearly demonstrated that they were prepared to put principles before objective fact, which they are supposed to do. And these are the type of people that run this country and our lives and we depend on for our future prosperity (ie will put us in to fuel poverty)
So if it is not within a councils power to object based on unknown geological fears and personal ideology (ie a council should be purely objective), especially when the councils own experts have checked and cleared all known concerns, I think NLCC are unfit for purpose, whether they resign before or after this I'm not sure, but seems like a travesty of planning law and justice. Any judge would be struck off for such disregard for the law.
Egdon NEED to put the case across better and make it clear they are with government guidelines
Worst case majority objection, best case majority abstention
