Non-executive directors should take responsibility for monitoring the performance of executive management, especially with regard to the progress made towards achieving the determined company strategy and objectives. They have a prime role in appointing, and where necessary removing, executive directors and in succession planning.

Interesting that the board has agreed with some difficult shareholders on here as to what is in the interests of the company…i am not at all surprised that the new NEDs now on board for a few months have sought rapid change at the top , their experience at top level technology businesses means they are very aware of the qualities required to deliver commercial success. Hopefully can all get behind a new appointment.

Maybe even more exposed to a takeover with the ceo and the chair both exiting short term?

Unfortunately …the outlook for gen 1 revenues must be dire if he is getting the boot.so whilst its a positive bringing in new broom i figure the update on the “delays” will not be what the bulls hoped for ..otherwise why is he out?

Hoping the new NED’s with their contacts are instrumental in finding dynamic and experienced CEO and credible Chair to restore investor confidence.

Would appear the NEDS are getting busy in sorting out the leadership position.

Fair comment Smithy..maybe not a difficult decision for some on that change of location too.Grenoble is a lovely city to live and work in i imagine.

Having seen Nanosys and SWIR vision taken recently on top of the other in-house takeovers in the sector over the years maybe there will be a land grab for any remaining companies with QD ip and manufacturing facility assets including the staff. On that basis Nanoco looks a sitting duck.

Who could Nanoco possibly take out ?

Not much they are very much likely the hunted not the hunter. Though getting the band back together by buying Quantum Science round the corner could be an idea. Though putting two businesses with little revenue together doesn’t add much but could bring in talent and cut overlapping costs. Difficult to know on whether the lead technologies from each company could be complimentary ..but the leadership team at QS were very involved in creating the IP portfolio at Nanoco.

There are no blocking stakes anymore as there were before ,when the company sort a sale in an official process, I think Samsung did bid but was deemed insufficient at the time by LOAM and RG who controlled about 40% at the time. I’m sure something came out in the Hammodi stuff .. $90m springs to mind . Anyway it was never put to shareholders and the official sale process was ended. Now the share register is quite different and if there was an offer made public then it would come down largely to pi’s ..whether they would believe another long term story from this board or take a reasonable premium might be a different matter , noting the 24p tender was over subscribed ..what might be needed to secure support now might not be a great exit price but might be preferable to spinning the dice yet again on them building organic value.

X if you believe the industry pieces there will be plenty of business to go round , however sourcing patent protected customised CFQDs is not a commodity business you can go round the corner and get elsewhere ( unless you are Samsung of course) so one would hope they find themselves in a unique position ..and not F it up.

My understanding is that the gen 2 sensors will be far better protected than gen 1 as the relevant IP is covered by our core patents …can’t direct where that is from but was raised in a presentation some time ago.

Always a good one to go back to remembering what SWIR sensors equipped with quantum film can do…as we wait for someone who wants it.

X it seems odd to me that Nanoco either directly ( STM ) or through Asian customer (Sony) are both seemingly in the same market working on the same or similar sensor devices for same end consumer devices are both potentially reliant on a small UK company for their ket platform technology and don’t see any potential conflicts. Can see one of the customers taking Nanoco out as it could stymie the other…perhaps depends how the gen 2 works pan out but at some point a takeout must be on the cards perhaps from a market position and a security of supply point of view…peanuts to these guys if they are serious on developing a platform technology around CFQD in SWIR sensors.

X. SWIR vision sensors has products and i think on semi might have some manufacturing capacity ..i imagine owning the company they can fast track development in-house so might not be far behind ..much seems to be around scaling the technology to mass production ..i don’t know but i am guessing onsemi has a plan to market ..they are a similar size business to STM a bit over $30B..so might know what they are doing.

Maybe STM will come for Nanoco soon to bring development and a manufacturing facility in house too…wonder if that would be problematic for the Asian customer?

So while it might not be directly what Nanoco is targeting ..i don’t think C is contact.

We know that one of the Asian customers biggest customers is Sony ..Sony and STM are the biggest players in sensors…i imagine Samsung are challenging them in that market.
