It can expand to neighbouring industries first and then take it further from there. As long as your solid core remains highly profitable, you are willing to invest and acquire appropriate talent you can grow in whatever direction you want.

Also, there is one important thing often omitted in the majority of traditional future SP analyses, which is a potential for additional growth through acquisitions. Considering Sirius' future huge potential ability to generate tons of cash at a very high margin, a life span of a 100 years and a product in high demand constituting a core of its operations, I don't see why Sirius would stop there instead of reinvesting some of those monies in more prospective businesses and grow a consortium with much bigger potential than Sirius Minerals Plc itself.

Currently Google owns over a 200 business involved in robotics, mapping, video broadcasting, telecommunications, and advertising.......Who would have thought 20 years ago. I don't see why Sirius couldn't do it in their own field. The scope for expansion is unlimited when you generate so much money and have a have a great management team with a skills / vision.

Yup, correct. The good thing is that I've learnt first hand that it can work both ways and it made all the difference. Patience, confidence and ability to not panic are as important as all the most advanced research & analysis.

Speaking about sentiment, I have a good feeling that Sirius' SP (providing the mine will be built) will skyrocket beyond any predictions on sentiment alone one day...All the factors are there - 100 life span, growing population, great product, high margins etc. and people will go absolutely crazy one day and SP will just fly. All they need is a bit of positive news and de-risking followed by timely delivery. The SP in 10-20 years time can reach the levels beyond our dreams on sentiment alone.

My memories re Ocado

I was a holder in 2016 when SP was around £2.50 - £2.70. The company looked decent and in my opinion presented a good value for money at that stage. I was determined to hold long term. Then suddenly media released an apocalyptic announcement about great almighty Amazon entering UK Market with its Amazon Grocery and Amazon Pantry combined with well known Amazon Prime. It was supposed to be over. Ocado shares tanked to £2. I couldn't see how that little struggling and fairly unpopular online service could win a competition with the approaching giant in the coming years. I panicked and I sold my holding at a loss of almost 70p per share.

Over the next 3 years Ocado shares sextupled and today trade at over £12......

Valuable lesson learnt. Maybe I needed that experience in order to make money somewhere else.

Yes, definitely possible especially that the potential lender willing to invest a 3bln or so is not something that can be found overnight....It must have been a process and not showing all the cards was definitely a clever move.

As I said though, we will probably never know the full story.

Yes, you're probably right - lending group demands and holding Sirius to ransom in an attempt to take advantage of the situation probably contributed significantly to the sudden change of direction resulting in finding an "Alternative" source.

We will probably never know the full story though. I just hope the end of April deadline will be met. Waiting game continues.

Could that be the case that something actually went wrong with the negotiations of the original ST2 plan & lenders (hence the original delay), Sirius then somehow found a last minute replacement and now it is presenting it to the market as "potentially more flexible and attractive Alternative solution" to soften the impact?

Don't eat me alive but I have a strange feeling there is a lot we don't know about.
