The Company is in the process of exploring its mineral properties and has not yet determined whether they contain resources that are economically recoverable. Applications include sports pitch heaters, utility chemical dosing line heaters, removable covers for heating in most industrial applications, blankets for accelerated concrete curing, frost protection and medical mattresses. Any problem with patient burns is probably down to the voltage being set too high for too long, not a fault of the unit. The solution will be to give recommended settings, just like heating a pizza! The new patient warming system named "HotDog" with an active polymer warming upper-body blanket and a new under-body warming mattress is undergoing patient trials against the old forced air systems. The manufacturer claims, that the new system, is as effective as forced air warming, while not having any disadvantages of the forced air system, like: airborne infection, noise, high power consumption and hard-to-clean hose. Sounds like they are playing catch-up, with a similar but still to be proven or approved design. Why don't they trial it against IDM products? The annual cost savings, from the NHS adopting the patient warming systems for operating theatres, may have been overstated in my last post. This was just my best guess!! The savings in lower consumable costs, if universally adopted by the NHS, will be over £10 million/a. There will be further savings from reduced power, clinical waste disposal and improved medical outcomes, which I do not have enough data to calculate with any confidence. New gov. incentive for IDM sales announced on Working Lunch today. NHS Trusts will be penalised for missing new Co2 emissions targets. The recent large NHS order is just the start, representing just 0.5% of the NHS market. If the NHS adopted Inditherm, for patient warming, the annual saving would be more than 3,000 MWh of energy, 200 tonnes of clinical waste, and £40million/year in direct costs. This is in addition to improved clinical outcomes for patients, including reduction in infection rates, blood loss, recovery times and mortality.
