Times article, Burnley and Boohoo23 Nov 2022 12:24
Firstly, Jongle and the rest of you pesky shorters - good call that it will fall. I'll be honest I thought it will fall into mid 40s as nothing goes up in a straight line and was quite surprised with the fall but Hey ho - you live and learn.
I live close to Burnley and have friends who work at Boohoo. This is a pretty impoverished area and sometimes things boil over into racism so this is not anything specific to boohoo. Some of my friends have benefitted quite handsomely form the save as you earn share scheme run by boohoo - some ended up with 5 and 6 figure returns which helped them get on the property ladder. I see the Times article doesn't think that this is worthy of news.
They have said that work can be difficult during busy periods but that is part and parcel of any factory work so not sure how the Times article things this is a big thing. This is a hatchet job pure and simple because someone has a dislike for the owners. I remember similar happening with JD Sports not long ago.
Boohoo is one of the biggest employers in the area and articles like these will make Boohoo move abroad and likely put off other companies opening up shop in the area. The people at Times really need to get a grip.
The bit I don't get is the long holders worried about short term movements. If it was to finish 40p today - what difference does it make? Will you sell then yes that's fine, if not then come back end of next year and let's see where Boohoo is.
Remember - you only lose or gain once you sell. Showing a healthy profit on a share which you have no plans to sell doesn't really make any difference either way. Use the chance to buy more if you believe in it or otherwise just leave and wait for it to come back.
