Hopefully, the sentiment against and opposition to mining may have now eased with locals seeing the chance to improve the economy and benefit them with employment in these troubled times.
I also have a holding in Savannah Resources (SAV) who have also experienced opposition to their mining permits for lithium and rare earth minerals at Mina do Barroso in Northern Portugal.
It seems to happen the world over, as soon as some enterprising miner wants to start developing a mine, the local activists have to put up barriers and make it awkward, before being placated with concessions.
Let's hope the weight of opposition can also be brought round by BKY.... Brown envelopes would help!

It is encouraging to see that there has been some relaxation to the opposition of mining in the area with the recent green light shown by the local authorities to Almonty Industries, a Toronto exchange-listed company (TSX: ALL) with the issue of permits to mine for tungsten at their Valtreixal Property in the municipality of Pedralba de la Paraderia in Spain. This is not far from where the permits to mine uranium are sought by BKY and is also an open-pit mine.
Perhaps this has stoked the excitement for a similar announcement for BKY.

Now 60% up on the day on the Madrid Bolsa market, top price paid €0.375 = 33.6p.
60 million shares traded (highest for the year) for €17.5m ...

Barclays were offering me 24.5p to sell when LSE was showing 24.0p bid price.... has gone mad in Spain, now around €0.32 = 28.65p and 40m shares traded (yesterday 20m).
Best ploy is to hold and go with the rise with a stop loss to protect 90% of the profit and if it falls at the end of the day there is a chance to get matched and buy back in tomorrow or later in the week when profit takers have top sliced.

Underwriting the current share price is a AS$53m (£29m) war chest that is not being called upon until the permits are issued and easily covers the initial setting up of the mine(s) with the Omani's pledging their support.
Movements today reflect the day-traders who have taken positions and made their margin, usually the share price strengthens in the afternoon when USA markets open and investors look abroad for bargains.
Zak Mir highlighted this share a few weeks ago when around 13.50p, his immediate target was 20p with possible 30p near term and future 40p with further news. Looks like this scenario is now playing out.

In the first hour's trading on the Madrid Bolsa volume of trading has already equalled the turnover for the whole of Friday and is currently around 6m shares at an average of 0.20 Euros (= 18p), up 9%.
So it looks like a day of high activity and expectation.

Yes lots of sudden activity on te Spanish Madrid Bolsa market....
Yesterday only 2m shares turned over, however, today already 14.6m and a rise of 7.5% on average price. The highest paid is 0.28 euros = 18.7p with some massive buys over 0.20 euros (186k at 0.205).
Just watching if anymore action on London market.

Yesterday I had the communication from Companies House that he had resigned as a director and was no longer a person of significant control within the company. Forgive me if this has been mentioned before.
Could we now think that he has now turned his attention 100% to BOU and some progress has been made and an announcement is forthcoming?

Correction to an earlier post, the Madrid Bolsa was operating today on moderate turnover in a range of 0.1920 to 0.1830 euros, weakening at the close.
In London, the 7 registered trades amounted to £24,000 of net buys, so has gone quiet again.

Madrid Bolsa closed for Local Public Holidays (Rioja and Murcia) on Monday 8th & Tuesday 9th of June.
Will be interesting to see if investors divert to London market and turnover increases.

Strong buying on Madrid Bolsa this morning.... 0.1910 euros being paid (17.12p) on £500k+ turnover.
Expect London to follow suit.

Share certificate for Portage Biotech has been followed has been followed by a letter from Barclays SI informing me that my holding is now my own responsibility and they are no longer nominee holders on my account.
If I wish to sell the Canadian Stock Exchange registered shares I need to appoint a broker who deals with this, but there is no time limit.
They will be reduced in number by the coming 1 for 100 share consolidation and a new revised certificate issued in my name.
While there is a prospect of the value increasing I am inclined to leave them be and hopefully rise from their current £28k+ return (was around £20k when the deal was done with SALV).

My share certificate for my holding in Portage Biotech arrived by special delivery yesterday.
Now waiting to see what Barclays Smart Investor propose to do.
Portage dipped to 12.0 UScents on Wednesday, but closed at 13.5 on Thursday on the CSE market.
Whatever happens, I would not be allowed to subscribe for the placement shares as I do not live in Canada or USA.

Plenty of support to underpin the London market.

Portage Biotech have announced a share consolidation (reverse stock split) as approved by the BOD in January 2020, of 1 new share for every 100 held on 8th June 2020, subject to CSE approval.
They plan to offer a non-brokered private placement to raise US$10million at US$10 per share, post consolidation, with a weighted 20 day calculated price less a 10% discount.
Directors Dr Gregory Bailey and Jim Mellon have agreed to support the offer up to US$2million for any unsubscribed stock. This will be reduced if oversubscribed.
The funds will be available in tranches to enable acquisitions of new products and expansion of the existing portfolio.

Could this be a prelude to a listing on the US market?

249k shares bought at 0.17euros fueling the rise.

A flurry of activity in the last 30 minutes (since 11:00am BST) on the Madrid Bolsa has seen the price paid rise by 16% to around 0.175 euros (15.5p) with plenty of 50k+ share trades.... Looks like another spike on the cards.

Portage Biotech closed on Monday at 15US cents with active trading, recovering from Friday's dip to 13.5US cents. Looks strong to challenge the last resistance point of 20US cents with the focus on the sector.
Maybe more news of a listing on the DOW now that their portfolio of Biotech companies need greater exposure to finance.
