The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
"MTR investors will be keen to hear updates..." I suspect MTR investors would be keen to hear almost anything from any body, such is the lack of news from our BoD!
Perhaps we all, including the MTR Board, got carried away with the potential rewards we saw coming out of KML and underestimated the costs of actually finding any copper in worthwhile amounts. Presumably having spent a lot of money on finding not much the Board have re-evaluated the situation and decided to leave costly exploration to Cobre in the knowledge that if any worthwhile discovery is made we'll eventually profit from it although whether I'll live long enough for it to materialise is another question. What's undoubtedly true is that the SFR royaltuies are not far away and we should see the benefit of those soon. What I would like to see is some reallistic estimates of what those might amount to as they really are our only salvation now. I'm not optimistic about MTR making a fortune from its equity investment operation. Finally if MTR has to re-invent itself I'd like to know what it's going to look like asap.
Hello Fiercey. Are they all banned? Can't see the point of that-nobody is forced to believe anything they read on here. There's only ever been 1 character on here that I was glad to see the back of and that was Bonkers. It's just mostly miserable whinging now, all too 1 sided.
Morning all. All doom and gloom on here isn't it. I think we need to take a step back and try to look at things realistically . We used to get the positve view from Hydrogen, Taylot et al but, to answer your question Fiercey (where are they now?) they are absent becaue they got mostly grief for saying what they did. It's hardly surprising if they choose to stay away now. I for one would welcome their input again.
Having said all that I remain as annoyed as anyone at the lack of communication from the Board and I have emailed Charles Hall making known my concerns an d suggested that the company arranges some regional meetings like we used have at the hotel in Wasall. Charles has forwarded my email to Michael who has offered to talk to me but I don't think a one to one conversation is what is required. If any one else wants to do that I daresay they'll get the same offer as I did. We'll have to see what happens .
As for our current situation I can only assume Trizza is pretty close to the truth in his assessment but it would be nice to get some confirmation and re-assurance from Michael that whilst things are not ideal, the NSRs are still in the bag and getting closer by the day. In the meantime can we get back to tolerating all opinions on here even if you disagree with them and perhaps we'll encourage input from all sides again.
Why would MTR sell £82.6k's worth of Heavy Minerals? They won't have made any worthwhile profit will they? I thought HM's prospects were good. Is it just a co-incidence that this is at the same time as selling the interest in KML? All this on the back of that interview where I thought MM looked like he'd lost a shilling and found a tanner. Has anyone been in touch with MTR to ask what's going on?
What do you make of the interview particularly the moving forward bit towards the end? It seemed to me the "appropriate time", as mentioned in the RNS, is at least 6 months away. It also looks like the plan to concentrate on the ASX and delist from AIM is no longer in prospect, which is good news as far as I'm concerned and suggests to me that large shareholders have objected to the idea. MM also seemed to be saying MTR would be looking to invest more in private companies to achieve greater gains. Generally I thought MM looked and sounded more down than excited. What does anybody else think?
"a bit of balance " is always useful when people are getting a bit annoyed and what you say about not relying on a chat board for info is correct-it is convenient tho'.
Agricore also has a good point about the deal encouraging Cobre to get a move on. We're all disappointed in the lack of progress from the KML holding but the deal has cleared the decks and let's see what MTR have to say to us-hopefully in the not too distant future.
I think it is a positive DP. Hopefully the statement that they are "excited" by whatever it is they're doing isn't just BS and that keeping it back till the "appropriate time" is indicative that the information is (price?) sensitive. Gotta hope so anyway.
OK, thanks, found the RNS now on MTR's own site. I shouldn't have assumed any RNS would have been shown on this site.
I see MTR are now left with just equity investments, i.e. no JVs, and the royalties which simplifies the portfolio and removes any direct exposure to exploration/drilling etc costs. I suppose any cash set aside to cover KML expenses can now be devoted to share purchase (after paying MTR's own running expenses) which will be reflected in the balance sheet. Let's hope they can find some profitable ones, that the "appropriate time" is soon, and what they've got to say is worth waiting for.
Hello MrRiker. What are you referring to/quoting from in your middle and last paragraphs? Is there an RNS I've missed?
Neither Hydrogen, nor any other poster on here is the problem-they're not running MTR. It's time for the Board to start talking to us again.
Hello Fiercey et al. It's difficult to strike a balanced view on MTR now. The SP is dire, nothing the company has done lately-the consolidation, the buy-back and the asx listing- has achieved anything for shareholders, and they don't talk to us any more. On the other hand the NSRs are definitely of great value but the BoD and the Company itself is surviving on the past-i.e. the MOD JV and all that flowed from that.
If long term investors are losing interest, how are new investors going to be brought in? The company needs to be talking to us, telling us what the way forward is, because if MM can't drum up some interest the SP will continue to slide. I suspect that for lots of holders now the only thing keeping us on board is the reluctance to crystalize losses. How has it all gone so badly wrong? As far as I'm concerned now they might just as well sell everything except SFR and Cobre (it's barely worth selling anyway being 85% down) where we hold the NSRs, and give us some cash back by way of a special divi.
If I've got it all wrong then MM needs to tell everybody loud and clear what the **** is going on. And quick!
PS why is there no RNS this morning?
PPS. I don't blame anyone who comes on here pushing the positives, somebody has to and the BoD certainly isn't.
have entered share purchase agreement with MTR to purchase remaining 49% of KML shares. Announced on Hot copper. Sorry, can't do a link but no doubt someone will and there'll be an announcement from MTR this morning I expect.
It sounded to me like the plant, as planned already, could handle 7.5m tons with the only constraint being the extra ore being available. Best order some more picks and shovels! It would be nice to get a comment from MTR to follow up on that little snippet. Don't suoppose we'll get one tho'.
Try RNSs in Dec '19 and may june and July '20 and when you've done that perhaps you'd like to explain them in simple terms for thickos like me (or perhaps I'm the only one!) who don't understand the advantages/disadvantages etc of the deals.
The issue is the here and now. Tomorrow is still too far away for new investors.
July price for copper around $4.50 again. Perhaps it will help SFR recover and then us and we certainly need something Of MTR's investments that i keep an eye on so many are absolutely dire, with only Heavy Minerals holding its price. Cobre, S. Gold, Artemis, Armarda all going downhill. Have we done something to p off the mining gods?
Pop into Screwfix first and see if you can get them a bigger drill.
very tight at the moment 18.92-19.02. Any significance in that?
I think we have to conclude they've been sold, hopefully at a profit.
