Washington Post March 6th 2014... Henry Kissinger How the Ukraine Crisis Ends...worth reading if you can find it.
on a separate note...when is an oligarch not an oligarch? National Lottery being handed to a Czech oligarch, P&O...HMM
Thanks GGO, posted the NAV as a comment on the further downside.
Sold some back in Feb 21 to average in on LLOY...time to reverse?
NAV posted yesterday (17 March) 38.9
All these bureaucrats we are paying for: UN, NATO , ICJ....makes the vampire squid look benevolent, certainly more efficient.
Good article in FT weekend mag about Facebook's "libra"coin...Powell was happy , Yellen said she didn't like it but Powell was welcome to go for it, if he was happy to take the flak..Powell folded. Is this really someone whose opinion is reliable/valuable?
at last something positive from the bashing of "Russian" stocks.
This has been trading at a wide discount so price should tighten now.
thanks...have held LLOY for years in various pots..some in good profit but next dividend pathetic and share buybacks are not sufficient reward...am contemplating selling LLOY for NWG..I guess HMG's share is less of a drag now?
any thoughts?
ref Novice hunter, "the perpetrators use be taught a lesson" ?
NATO London Declaration completely overturned...is Russia the perpetrator in wanting to keep NATO missiles away from its borders? Look how happy the USA was when the USSR wanted to arm Cuba similarly. There is much more to this situation than knee-jerk reactions which our politicians would do well to consider.
So beat up Abramovich..who is an Israeli citizen, btw,..who's next ? Everton..both are in Russia, even steel, one is Russian but Moshiri has made his pile of cash in Russia; Leicester City..that sort of cash doesn't look dirty, or does it?..Manchester City...and what exactly has Abu Dhabi been sponsoring politically in Africa?
Should get Angela Merkel out of retirement to sort this mess...probably only European leader who gets it.
Can't think the Israelis have anything to offer other than USA's preferences.
These knee-jerk sanctions are fine for USA..as I have said before, these wheat sanctions will cause political instability in the wider Mediterranean and African states...I believe it is known as famine...hoipe Uncle Joe has time to pray for all those suffering from famine.
good Rod Liddle article sports section Sunday Times this weekend past. Beginning to suspect all politicians/ government officials are not Chelsea fans.
hmm..talking of starving, any thoughts of how North Africa , Egypt etc are going to survive without Russian wheat? Sanctions are hurting populations and countries who cannot afford this politicking.
We are being led by the nose....Ukraine is being beaten up by the Russians but they are asking for nuclear arms on Ukrainian soil now? really? Ukraine is lousy with USA arms ...what did they think the Russians were going to do?
Seems to me Croatia and Ukraine lost ww11, but are winning the peace.
If I was Taiwan, I would be digging bunkers.
Ooh, did you sell USA when Libya was taken out? Get some perspective…
Sorry..Macron is a pranet…great negotiator France has been, just kicked out of Mali effective , immediately…Macron has an election coming up, he has to look efficient having F’d up his African adventures. His big speech started withFrance is not at war with Russia…// USA: no USA boots in Ukraine…or did Joe mean Iran?
Russia and USA are both shockers when it comes to allies. Europe is being led by the nose and Macron is facilitating this by posturing as the great negotiator. We have to start looking at all this objectively and with the benefit of history…WW11 didn’t end because they saved Private Ryan. Have a look at history of Ukraine…oops I think Poland has a claim or two in waiting. This is a war we do not understand without any East European history and I don’t mean since the fall of the Iron Curtain. BTW USA can take their sanctions and look for the sun…wheat sanctions v. Russia: in Middle East and North Africa will lead to political instability..at least Debbie will be able to drive to Dallas cheap.
