Stand out comment to me " the bank would almost double its dividend in 2026"

Hmmm I don't see that happening, to me that implies like an 80-90% increase which would make a dividend pay out of between 13-14 pence. Sure would be nice that is for sure. Must say Barclays can learn from Natwest, well impressed with their dividend payouts.

Always the case Barclays, never seems to rise on results, always a flop.

Looks like Natwest managed to beat Barclays for Evelyn Partners in a £2.5billion deal. Quite impressive, a few big acquisitions going forward would be nice.

We will have to wait and see if they have been successful.

I would have thought Natwest shares would also have been down but it has not really had a effect on the SP like Barc.

Came across a snippet from a article last year 'NatWest has just smashed brokers’ dividend forecasts!'

NatWest’s directors also confirmed that, with effect from 2025, they intend to increase the proportion of earnings paid in dividends, from 40% to around 50%. This is something the ‘experts’ weren’t expecting. Prior to the news, they were forecasting a payout ratio of 39.7% (2025), 41.1% (2026), and 44.5% (2027).

Even the most optimistic dividend forecast for 2025 (24p) now looks to be on the low side. Next year, earnings per share are expected to be 54.1p. Returning half of this to shareholders would result in a payout of 27p.

Wonder if Natwest will reward shareholders with a better than expected final divi, like they did with the interim.

Barclays could sure do with a mega merger to propel them. We need the lack lustre dividend back to where it should me 30p+

Good set of results, hope Barc is finally moving in the right direction. Dividend has been a big let down...what happened to rewarding the shareholders?

I understand Natwest will be looking at some acquisitions once they are fully out from government privatisation. Sounds very interesting and I hope Natwest can be the formidable beast it once was, formally RBS, the worlds biggest bank one point. Any thoughts on possible takeovers?

Barclays have attempted to buy Santander on two occasions without any avail.

A merger with standard charter would be a good suite. This would give NWG the global presence it once had
