I may be way off the mark here, however you do appear like someone with an axe to grind. You have quoted rumoured figures that I personally know are a little wide of the mark. With respect, I'm not regarding your post as all that credible. Good to see a few buys in the last few days though.

Given the recent fragility in the markets and the underlying unpopularity of this share with II's this share has held up remarkably well. Personally I do not believe that the share buybacks are really all that price influential. The 110p floor seems pretty solid. That has to augur well. This is particularly the case when compared to 888 that has fared extremely badly of late. The likelihood is that the next nine months or so until the end of the year will be bereft of any major news. Trading will hopefully be improving during that time, albeit no trees will be pulled up, the thing the management must not do is spend profligately to chase market share. The incentive scheme is a disgrace and the very fact that it has been table as such speaks volumes about the management team. This is a company seeming unable to post any meaningful profit and the 202p target alluded to by one of the other posters is simply not probable unless the whole US market opens up (and what would that be to do with the current management team's efforts). This simply shows utter contempt for the long suffering stockholders. I have never been a fan of the current Board and if I was a shareholder I'd be spewing to give these folks their salaries let alone bonuses. This share will continue to bounce up and down in the trading range 105p-127p and there is probably money to be made from this. To close IMHO, The Zynga thing is just a red herring and there is neither anything to fear nor anything to get excited about. Good luck to all who hold here.

This is a broker just gambling that any legislation surrounding the machines is wholly negative and trying to make a name for themselves. I cannot see the changes being all that adverse in the short term. The restriction on opening new shops, an increased levy on the machines or tinkering with on screen messages will have no major effect to profitability in the next two years. Further out that may not be the case. There is actually an argument that restricting the new licences granted may solidify an already saturated market. That being said, the trend is firmly downwards and this share has few friends at the minute so it may be rocky for a while yet. The quote below shows a real lack of understanding and it is almost impossible to believe that almost 15% of revenue would be lost from this change. How they arrive at this sweeping statement god only knows! "These restrictions could include a reduction in the maximum game stake from £100 to £20, which would reduce machine revenues by 15%, JPMorgan estimates."

I'm looking to top up a little here. The price for 200,000 share is currently 7.62p, albeit smaller blocks can be purchased for 7.25p. I'm hoping this drifts a bit further in the meantime whilst things are seemingly quiet. The lack of any information at all for the investors from the company, through the website or otherwise, is nonetheless disappointing. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I hate reposts of old news that occurred months ago. Whilst a positive update would be most welcome, it is also possible that the validation testing has encountered difficulties. The company would not be obligated nor bound in any way to release an RNS until such time that the outcome became clear. Presumably the validation testing is quite extensive and complications or retesting must be quite commonplace in this environment. This would not constitute a failure merely an acceptable delay, acting as a precursor to an announcement of success or otherwise. I suspect that an announcement, whether positive or negative, would arrive at broadly the same time either way. All of the signs are good here with the notable exception of the volumes traded. The cumulative effect of the newspaper articles and the rumours over the involvement of the foundation should have stirred up more interest. Perhaps it is simply just unfashionable with the latent value only recognisable to many investors if and when it happens. I like this as an investable proposition on a number of different levels and I now hold the maximum that I permit myself to hold with any AIM investment. Good Luck All

I pretty much concur with you on all points. I'd agree that the exchanges are the future and the days of the high street bookmaker must be numbered. What I do know though is that there will always be a market for "quick fix" gambling such as AWP's, FOBT's or the 3:30 at Kempton. The culture will change of course, however the need will always require to be met. The FOBT's are a disgrace though and any sane society would acknowlege and remedy this.For a couple of years though they are the lifeblood of this company. Would I be correct in assuming that you are or have been employed in this sector? You certainly appear to have a very good understanding of the trade.

I'm now sitting at break even having topped up a little at 166p. I thought the drop after the machines commentary by Ed Moribund was overdone. I've got a fair holding now as I do expect this to recover and eventually sort itself out. In the meantime I think there may be a predator lurking (this outweights the likely volatility this share may suffer in the intervening period. Who know though! I might have been better betting on Frankel's offspring winning a classic in 2016 as it's about as certain as that and on a similar timeframe. Where else in the gambling sector have you invested. If you do not mind me asking.

The likely profiability is indeed a small plus for shareholders. The recent fall following the politicing over the machines has now all but been reversed. Six months or so to make progress is just long enough to get things started. As you say though, only time will tell. Are you holding here?

LONDON (ShareCast) - FTSE 250 gaming company Ladbrokes has said it expected its group operating profit for 2013 to hit the middle of analyst forecasts, in line with its own guidance. As such the figure for the year will fall in the middle of £129.8m and £151m. The group also said it remained on track to deliver against its key strategic priorities during the first half of the current year, which in particular is set to drive the company's digital performance through the second half of the year and beyond. The dividend is expected to be maintained at its current level of 8.90p per share for 2013 and at least at this level in 2014. The company also confirmed that the upgrading of the gaming machines estate would be completed in time for the World Cup in June 2014 and that the new Ladbrokes mobile offer, on the Mobenga platform, was successfully launched in December 2013.

Good gains over the last few days, Hopefully you'll be able to hold onto the gains until the next set of figures are released and thereafter get another wee bump upwards. Given the drop at 888, it seems that the market is beginning to believe. Long way to go but nevertheless encouraging for you. Has anyone had the time to try and work out the likely EBITDA (before marketing costs) for the period since the NJ launch?

All quiet indeed. There seems to be little interest in acquisition of late. Hopefully the wheels of turnaround are whirring busily in the meantime. I'd have to say that it has been slightly disappointing to have heard of no new contracts news. I'd have thought a concerted effort would have yielded at least a few items worthy of a mention. Even an update on the Sports Shops venture would be helpful. Progress with the caravan parks should also be trumpeted. This company has services to sell and it just seems like the previous inability to make others aware of their presence in the market place continues to be an issue. It may be B2B however I'd have expected a little more of the new regime. I can totally understand the unwillingness to expend marketing funds at present however the lack of any information whatsoever on the website is less forgiveable. I cannot understand all this hiding a light under a bushel, especially with this company who probably advise turning the light off to save cash.

The update should come soon enough and the chunky buys this afternoon would usually act as an indicator of something positive to come. There should be some newsflow by the end of the month at the very latest. One just gets the feeling that this company is wakening up from its slumber Good Luck all

crookman, The 60p prediction would be downside however this is not based upon everything failing. I did not say that. The problems exist if they stand still even if the business does not worsen. The issue is that if the performance does not improve and that the US proves difficult and the optimism dissipates then the SP will suffer accordingly. Hopefully the US will deliver however around 20%-25% of the current SP probably relates to expectation from the US. The remainder of the business has underperformed for yearsand the current year on year trends will damage the weaker operators the most. The trustrees of Emerald Bay and Stinson will be obligated to manage their respective trust assets effectively. If the business does not turn around fairly quickly then they will be fearful of being forced to sell some of these shares in a "fire sale". Three years is really not all that long to sell 118m shares. The content of the trust deed would be very important however this will remain undisclosed At 60p the business would be valued at circa half a billion pounds and if it fails to make inroads into profitability in the next two to three years then this not only possible it would be probable. The shareholders would have to form their own view whether improvements are deliverable by the current Board and the extent to which legislative changes (either positive or nagative) over the forthcoming years will affect the business. The drift may only be 2p -7p overall over the six months. Perhaps you consider a 6% drop over 6 months inconsequential. The initial 6 months of the year will see the SP flatline with a slight downward trend. The second half of the year MAY show recovery and this is what i think will be limited to the £1.35. This is just my opinion and if you want to look forward to saying that I did not predict it correctly then please do so. Perhaps you'd like to add some of the rationale behind your thinking in order that others can benefit from your viewpoint as to why this will pass through £1.35 as you predict

I'd say that the £1 level would encounter massive resistance and in the short term this is the lowest possible level that it could drop to. In saying that, I'm not too sure it will go lower than a $1/.05-£1.10 range any time soon. The upcoming announcement should bolster it for a few weeks at least. Good trading results during 2014 would inevitably aid the SP however i think anything north of £1.35 this year would in my view fall into the realms of wishful thinking. In summary the likely range is between £1.05 and £1.27 at least until there has been two quarters of solid sustained figures. Even after good results the £1.35 looks like a ceiling to me In two or three years this could easily be 60p.The long awaited return to the US has been incorporated into the SP for a while now. if for any reason this is stunted or possibly unprofitable then the current SP would look extremely flattering. The US ventures may prove to be lucrative though and only time will tell.

I'm sure that the falling share price has been a concern of late. Many of you have attributed the fall to the recent brokers' opinions and this is no doubt true. The point that I would make is that the share price is actually almost where it was a month ago. The increases following the trading update were surprising as the update was actually somewhat benign and did not offer any additional good news beyond that they said they were meeting expectations. Brokers' opinions are quite often utter nonsense. I remember that Investec rated 888 at 18p targets for a period long beyond the established upward trend in the SP. They must but questioned however those people who utterly disregard them do so at their own peril. Bwin cannot be said to have failed in NJ nor however have they yet demonstrated the profitability yet. The upcoming announcement from Bwin will hopefully be enlightening. There does seem to be a propensity on here to concentrate on the US and to ignore the rump of the business that has seriously underperformed in recent years. There is little. if indeed anything, that has been offered recently to particularly cheer up shareholders, The recent history here is of unsustained spikes after news is released however there are two things to consider here 1) Sooner or later an announcement will be disappointing and shock the market. Bwin have form here! 2) Where will any potential good news come from? I had always expected the price to drift downwards and I expect a continued downward trend through the first two calendar quarters of 2014. Trading announcements will provide some upward movement. The paradox here is that the SP will be boosted more from updates that do not contain bad news rather than any meaningful positive moves forward. If the legalisations are stalled as a result of the elections, the likelihood of lower market share./reduced or nullified profitability becomes much greater. Some posters have mused over the deal in NJ and the distribution of any profits. This is perhaps a potential banana skin until the mechanics of the deal become known. The shares held in trust representing 14.3% of the shares in issue were still held at the end of the calendar year. The arrangement made with the DeLeons to secure their exit is a latent problem and the attitude and stance taken by the managing trustee could be extremely adverse especially if results worsen. This is an opportunity to make money on the spikes but is in all probability an accident waiting to happen. Good luck to all holders when the forthcoming announcement is issued.
