Case Details, the hearings were held on March 23-24, 2026, at the Western Cape High Court concerning exploration in the Deep-Water Orange Basin (DWOB) off the West Coast. Block 3B/4B.
Hearings are Finished and the court has heard all arguments from the petitioners (small-scale fishers and environmental groups like Natural Justice and The Green Connection) and the respondents (TotalEnergies and the government).
Judgment is Pending, the judge (or full bench of judges) has reserved the decision to carefully review the massive amount of evidence before issuing a final ruling.
No Fixed Date, a specific date for the judgment is not immediately given. The parties are notified later—hence, "on notice"—when the ruling is ready.
Timeframe, judgement is expected within the next three months from the conclusion of hearings in March 2026.
So maybe sometime in June, a positive outcome would give all the blocks the go ahead to drill and Block 1 CBK is drill ready, just clarification of drills to South Africa government.
This has got to be positive news less all drilling offshore South Africa is finished and the government know this.
Would like to think 2 drills in block 3B/4B minimum and news of block 1 drill campaign this year.
All bodes well with Guyana news and drill timeline, I expect 3 drills, as well as Namibia Block farm in news and Falklands a little later.
Positive news in South Africa, imminent news which I believe is positive in Guyana and Namibia will have this over £1 easily and more pre-drills. A find over £2.40, that’s Guyana appraisals. Any success in South Africa and bingo.
