So basically the two leaders are waiting to see who blinks first. I have no idea who will then. Trump back tracks (slightly) when he messes up. I can't see his ego allowing him to back down on the trade war, something that he started.

China said they won't back down, but they have the most to lose. Personally I don't think they will, they have no elections to worry about.

So this is going to get nasty. I think he's doing it rapidly to get it over and done with quicker. I reckon it will see him up towards the end of his term. If he hasn't won by then he won't get a second term. If he's won and America is growing after taking back trade from China he'll get a second term.

But I don't think he will get it done on time, trade wars take ages.

Trump Threatening 20 to 25% import tax on EU cars. If we had a decent leader we could tag team the EU with the USA... if Germany (the unofficial leader of the EU) took a big hit from both the 1st and 5th biggest economy in the world on their car industry... that would weaken their resolve to sh*t on the UK.

It's not completely gone yet mate, Scotland hasn't fallen yet. But the way Nichola Sturgeon is going it's next. Some parts of Northern England are ok too. London, Birmingham, Manchester... many Northern towns are all turning into something resembling the 3rd world.
