I just avoid gap trading, more often than not you come a cropper. I could drop to the very short term charts, but then I'd have to risk big money for small percentages. I'd rather wait on a big drop to go long with real stocks, and short via spread betting on the side. I've got FX positions running just now to keep me going anyway.

The thing is, if the demand is there, they raise the price. There hasn't been enough demand, there hasn't been enough sellers either. So I agree, to facilitate business they drop the price. If that doesn't facilitate business, they drop the price more. Technical traders have been hesitant to get in due to the 01/05 gap at 346.45 is my guess.

I'm not second guessing it mate, if it closes negative I'll short with a tight GLSO. Just like yesterday, if it changes it's mind I'm out before the damage is done. If it stays on the same path I make the money.

So Trump signals the USA is (rightly) pulling out of this dumb deal with Iran. And sanctions are likely... yet the oil price falls. I get that it's had a big run, but surely sanctions on a country with the worlds 4th biggest oil reserves would be supportive of oil prices... What am I missing? Not researched it much

I genuinely don't know. But speculating, it makes no sense at all to me that the Congo government would allow English courts to overrule them. At least not without some sort of dodgy dealing to help twist their arm. Why would you think English law would overrule courts in another country, one of the most corrupt countries in the world too?

Anappa, Yes it could result in bullish Island reversal. The point being though, it's rare that these are not filled short after they develop, sometimes they don't fill for ages... meaning Glen could go on a run from here. But more often than not they are filled. I agree, apart from the DRC stuff there's not much holding Glencore back.

TA measures the trend reversal, often before the RNS comes out as to why. And news is priced in by the big guys before minnows like us can react to it. Hence why I trade TA.

Also if he said it's only for short term he's wrong. It depends on which chart you're trading. 1 minute to 15 minute = Day trading to a day or two. Hourly = Trends usually last 1 - 5 days, sometimes more. Daily = 1 - 4 weeks, sometimes more. Weekly = Weeks to months Monthly = months to a year+
