Most stocks are either fairly valued or overvalued anyway. It won't take much to crash the markets. He's right to impose the tariffs to protect US interests, for too long now outsourcing has lead to US jobs leaving, and the unfair tactics of various countries have resulted in big trade deficits.
The US has a scary amount of debt, it can't continue to hemorage money like it's doing... a massive crash could happen, a global economic down turn could happen as the Smoot-Hawley tarrif act of 1930 proved when it contributed strongly to the great depression.
So at this point you're probably thinking... how the hell can JMO think this is the right thing to do, he's lost the plot... the men in white coats are coming for that barsteward.
I happen to think the global elite are screwing the West with all this globalization nonsense. Cultural Marxists forcing multiculturalism and globalisation down our throats. Think I'm a racist? Culture is not race... we are being replaced. Think that's nutty? The fertility rate in the uk is 1.8.. the fertility rate of a certain demographic (I'm sure you know which one) is 2.9. Procreating at a rate 61.11% faster than everyone else. The replacement rate just to maintain a culture of people is 2.1. We're decreasing and they're increasing. And who asked us if it was ok to flood the country with immigrants? No one... it was forced on us.
It was never going to end well all this globalisation, you can't switch off 7 to 8 Million years of evolution by natural selection leading to Homo Sapiens, highly evolved territorial primates and expect our biology to take a back seat...
Anyway I digress...
To summarise, if the other side(s) don't back down the tit for tat trade war will escalate, it will cause a global downturn, if that gets bad enough there will be sporadic fighting, if that gets bad enough there will be a world war. And all the leftist nonsense stopping people from exercising their freedom of speech will go right out the window. The silent majority will put them in their place.
A recession is when your neighbor losses their job, a depression is when you lose your job. And when people no longer worry about losing their jobs (because they don't have one), they will rebel against the establishment, and they will stop caring about political correctness... you can fill in the rest with your imagination.
