So it turns out that if these shares are held in a stocks and shares ISA wrapper, then ultimately whether WeCap decide to sell their holding and issue a special dividend, or issue shares in WeShop in-specie, then the returns are tax-free regardless. However, you will pay a 15% US Withholding Tax on the shares if WeCap do decide to distribute.
I think what is far more likely is a quarterly special dividend. Wouldn't have thought WeShop (nor WeCap) would be keen on having the SP smashed by immense selling pressure come November 2026 - I would imagine they'll be drip fed into the market over a period of time - possibly over 12 months and special divi every 3 months.
Who knows what the SP in WeShop will be, but I can bet you it'll be some way north of $110.
