I think there is no question whatsoever that globalisation has impacted the well-being and economic security of large swathes of the Western world. Look at the desolation throughout the American Midwest ... look at the gutting of the UK high streets.
There has been a very real impact to the social contract, which was: “ work hard, save, buy a house, your kids will be better off than you, you will be taken care of in your old age”. That no longer exists for many and it is going to continue to get worse for many more.
In many respects this is irreversible. There will be a shift to localism and protectionism ... that will balances things slightly, but not for a good while yet. In the meantime there an awful lot of very unhappy people who vote for things like Brexit - which will certainly not help in the short term and will make things worse n
