And as others have said FDs are largely accountants and less business focused

Not sure what more you would want from a chat with the FD. Their job is to know the numbers and financials inside out and sounds like they do. If you want to know about where the business is heading aren't you better off speaking to one of the more operational directors? If anything your comments give me more positives, but then only you knew what was fully discussed.
