I re-read the January trading update and have kept up to date with any new news since then. I am happy to remain invested in this company. There are multiple reasons for this such as the 200+ new stores opening in the US in the first half of this year. As you said I fully believe this will return to highs at some point, who knows it could be sooner than we think with positive macro news and good news in March.

What impact is this short likely to have on the share price in the short term?

More downside pressure?

Thought we were back on the up after yesterday afternoon.... Disappointed but not surprised!

From my own DD it seems they have a better profit margin on non-food than food.

What do we think of the news today and the SP drop?

I am no expert on this share or any other. In fact I am a relatively new investor who is trying to gain knowledge on a daily basis.

However, I still believe a 10% profit miss should not result in the drop to SP that JD took/continues to take.

Yes there is other macro factors also such as the BOE rates etc however fundamentally I think this is undervalued and is an opportunity. As stated earlier I think JD is the most in demand retailer in the UK outside of Primark. I have also formerly worked for the company in a store and demand will exist even in hard times in my view due to the products they sell and their core customer base.

Happy for someone to disagree or provide more information as I said I am not expert merely someone trying to learn and develop as an investor.

This could be the cycle until the March update.

I think I was overly negative yesterday, this company does have a lot of positives going for it. US expansion, mainland Europe expansion, Euros/Olympics year etc.

JD Sports is still the number one high street store in the UK outside of Primark for me when it comes to demand.

I think we need large buys from funds or director buys to get this moving in the right direction. At least until March results.

Recovery has definitely slowed this week. We were moving quickly until Wednesday.

Seriously bad morning compared to the rest of UK stocks. Just as I was getting close to my average, frustrated. Can't see any JD specific news either apart from a buy rating yesterday as mentioned below.

I am also coming up to the breakeven point and curious. 150-170 range seems possible sometime in the summer from comments below and other DD.

Heading towards my average of 121, hoping to lower it over the next day or two if possible. Cautious with buying on green days. Trying to learn the valuable skill of patience.

Can't find any, always like to know if possible any reasoning.

Looks like a large buy came in at 2pm. Starting to edge towards what I think will be a lot of very recent traders average. Interested to see if they sell.

Looking to keep averaging down but today hasn't given me any opportunity with what I comfortable purchasing for at this stage.
