As for the rest of your drivel Tesco’s rise has been excellent and will continue to grow mainly driven by the excellent management team who haves proved themselves in spades - now who do I believe a numptie who has been wrong with every prediction that he has made or the strategy of our team - Hmmmmm - back in your box mr non investor - also filtered !! What happened to you sub 200 and sinking further as investors chose to bail out of tesco and bookers - haven’t seen it yet have we despite your dire predictions and given th latest figures your not likely to. Anyone would think that the new team taking the company from a 6bn loss to a 1.3bn profit was a bad thing as well a achieving the takeover of Booker despite your predictions that it would never happen as well as no adverse conditions attached which you were wrong on as well. I hope the Sainsbury Asda deal goes through because during the carnage that will result Tesco will be rubbing its hands with glee as we pick up more clients in the process, also it wil have a detrimental effect on the Aldi and liddles of this world as a discount war erupts.

RMR i think tesco bought bookers because it is a perfect fit and because it could - it is now regarded by most pundits that it was a stroke of genius strategically and bring other benefits such as the addition of certain market board specialists. It will be nice to see the combination of Sainsbury and Asda hitting the discount market if the deal goes through which it won’t imo however there target market will be in direct competition to the likes of Aldi and Lidle I wonder how many stores Sainsbury’s will be forced to sell if any deal goes through??

WallMart must be rubbing there hands in glee as they can offload there investment in Asda of 20 years ago which never really worked out for them. Sainsbury's are pretty smart cookies and this deal represents a new lease of life for them allowing them to hit the discount sector pretty hard however what happens to Sainsbury and in particular Asda should the deal not complete? Interesting times and a good one to watch on the sidelines - see the initial news has been brushed off as far as Tesco is concerned !!

Poker chips does anyone buy the line that Sainsbury states no job losses or store closures?? Tesco will be closing stores due to replicated sites etc and will be subject to job losses but with the straight admission that this will improve margins and profitability

Poker chips long time no speak hope you are faring well? Read the Sainsbury’s statement about no job losses or closures following any merger which I don’t believe anyone is going to swallow let alone the commission. Interestingly they are definitely lining up to hit the discount food market so Aldi and Lidle should be the ones most to suffer if it goes through - as for predictions I see the Sainsbury rise of today reversing and the Tesco price rising as the difficulties of this proposed merger become apparent long long way to go with a minimum of at least a year so on balance if it does complete which I doubt what will any conditions be and will they be acceptable? Meanwhile whilst Sainsbury and Asda are in turmoil it leads us to pick up more customers and continue to make further rises in the SP and market share and profitability which it has more than shown it is capable of doing

I see that they will investigate the proposed Sainsbury’s merger and unless the participants can put a compelling reason it will move from a stage 1 to a stage 2 mergers and competition investigation which will take at least 24 weeks - so much for any predicted merger taking place anytime soon.

The shifting sands and fickle customers- does not appear to affect Or apply to Tesco does it? Still chunder on all you like. The turnaround continues for Tesco and we are by far the strongest and best placed in the market than anyone, also I would suggest do a quick peek at our last results will settle anyone’s nerves and confirm that the Booker deal was a stroke of genius. Unlike our deal with Booker which sailed through the competition commission with NO amendments I cannot see Sainsbury/Asda getting through without major modifications if at all. There will be major closures/ redundancies and let’s see how the unions react - still this will run and run and in the meantime our team will be rubbing there hands with glee.

What a great realistic and a well balanced post - very refreshing from the gloom and doom merchants only looking to try to scare investors into selling up despite the fantastic job the inspirational team that leads this company has and continues to do. Highly recommended

Hi Ollie should prove interesting to see Sainsbury’s figures although the big winner undoubtedly will be Walmart as it is an obvious exit for them since buying Asda since it was last struggling. We may see a dip back on Tesco next week which if the case I will be loading up and consider it a gift as this has £3 written all over it. GL Jonjo

WWT - your not invested in Tesco - you only post to de-ramp because you have missed all chances to do so - your predictions are constantly wrong especially in light of the fantastic results which I note you dont wish to comment on - as for predictions try reading those results which in my opinion maps out the way forward in a straight forward manner. Now I suggest you concentrate on those minor mining stocks of yours as they seem to be both fading fast LOL

Oh and by the way WWT congrats on a fantastic prediction on your part after all nobody could have worked out that there would be a merger between two supermarkets in the current market could they LOL !

Think the merger will be great for Tesco gives us at least a year to line up our guns to take market share when the big four become the big three
