"NDI - The majority of respondents believe that Georgia is developing in the wrong direction
16:35, 21.04.2022
According to a March poll by the National Democratic Institute (NDI), the majority of respondents believe that Georgia is developing in the wrong direction.
44 percent of respondents believe that the country is developing in the wrong direction, 17 percent say that Georgia is not developing at all, and 28 percent say that Georgia is developing in the right direction.
The study conducted by CRRC-Georgia by the order of the National Democratic Institute was published today. According to the authors of the study, the report is based on the results of two telephone surveys conducted by the country (excluding the occupied territories) about two weeks before Russia's invasion of Ukraine (February 3-15) and two weeks later (March 9-20). The average margin of error in the February survey is +/- 1.8 percent, while in the March survey it is +/- 1.6 percent. Respondents were selected by simple random sampling - random dialing."

I heard messages that they want to protect the country's economy, which economy? Part of the territory of Georgia has already been seized, they [the Russians] have almost reached Tbilisi. I think it is not worth it, said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at a news conference in the Kyiv metro, responding to a question from a Georgian journalist.
Zelensky's statement concerned the issue of Georgian authorities not imposing sanctions on Russia.
"I believe that the Georgian people are one of the closest to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. After the first revolution, we saw great support from them. I do not really understand the current position of the leaders of your Government. I do not understand this and that is why I perceive this issue so painfully. I think what they are going for is not really worth it,"

"Russia is attempting to portray itself as a reliable ally in the fight against jihadists and insurgents as Western attention turns elsewhere. The proposed exit of half of the French troops stationed in the Sahel, the semi-arid African region riven with armed gangs and Islamist terrorists, has left Mali shopping for security partners. It has found one in Wagner, the shadowy Kremlin-linked organization that supplies ex-Russian military fighters in conflict hotspots globally."

"Kapanadze said he feared that the Georgian government may dig in its heels out of concern that any change in its stance will be interpreted as weakness, “unless there is a certain pressure on them from our Western friends, which has not been present.”

"Georgian Dream cannot form a majority in Batumi Assembly, despite despair efforts, - said Giorgi Kirtadze, the Batumi mayoral candidate of various opposition parties.
According to him, Irakli Gharibashvili personally announced that he was starting the fight with blackmail, intimidation and bribery.
"A few days ago, the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili, who controls SSG and the Prosecutor's Office, was in Batumi. He clearly announced the start of the fight by blackmailing, intimidating and bribing to get the majority for the Georgian Dream, but despite this despair effort, they failed to do so. Transfering only one person is not enough.
The persecution of people on political grounds must end. In parallel, hatred, blackmail and bribery in politics must end on October 30. The Georgian Dream will finally be defeated", - said Giorgi Kirtadze."

Seems like the upcoming elections are still going to be compromised by intimidation.

I'm worried that dream 2 could be a way of securing GD a ruling majority by taking possible votes away from the opposition parties, then forming a coalition with GD and voting with them.
