Re: Dividend, I think it will be back for the Interim in October 3.84p or a bit more.
We might get the 2020 interim Dividend, ex-dividend in October. Up to now it hasn't been cancelled. Last year the ex-dividend date was 3rd October and it was 3.84p, I am quite confident we will get that.

It even mentions the yield now as been 7.33%, I am sure Diane Abbot helped with the calculation.
My back of the beer mat calculation gets the current yield to circa 0.00%.
I don't understand. What the hell are they talking about ? There isn't a dividend.

Im glad you explained the EXCLUDING dividend for those that don't seem to understand what EX means.
I wonder how many of them have an Ex wife and think they are still married.
Re: my previous thing about the shares, it is great that the share price is rising but it also means that when the dividend money arrives on the 19th June it will buy less shares.

My reason for selling yesterday was not to try and make more money than the dividend. It was to use the same money to buy back more shares on or around the low today which is what I did. I now own more BP shares than I did yesterday without investing any more money. I don't think the dividend on the 19th June will buy the same amount of shares as today. If like me you are fully invested in an ISA then you can't introduce anymore new money so to buy more shares you either have to sell something or wait for Dividends to arrive. I am predicting that share prices will increase over the next few months as countries start to come out of lockdown.

My target price was 325p before today and I wasn't looking when it hit that on Tuesday.
The main point is that the extra money (which just happened to be more than the divi) gets reinvested today and you don't have to wait till 19th June. For those people fully invested in an ISA where they can't more funds in then their only chance to buy more is when dividends come in. I don't expect BP to be at these bargain prices on 19th June.
Quote you " The rest got less and for most it was not worth the bother "
yes it is really hard to make a couple of clicks to sell some shares and the same to buy them back

Exactly my point. It could be north of 350 or 400p so the dividend on the 19th june will not buy anywhere near as many shares as buying today using profits from the difference in share price from yesterday to today. I would of been happy to buy back today at 10p less than I sold yesterday but I managed to get 13p less, after 1.5p stamp duty the saving was 11.5p. The main thing is been able to buy more shares around this 300 to 310 price which might not be possible on 19th June
The money I took from my sale yesterday at 322p I reinvested into a larger amount of BP shares today at 309p. I didn't sell all my BP shares yesterday so I will be getting some dividend. BUT do you you think you will be able to buy BP shares at 309p when you recieve the dividend money on the 19th June ?
10,000 shares would get you £850 dividend. a sale yesterday at 322p and reinvested today after taking into account 2 x dealing fees and stamp duty would get you back 10360 shares at 309p. Now do you think you will be able to buy 360 shares on the 19th June for £850 ? that would require buying them at £2.35

1: are you seriously saying you don't know how much the dividend is for ex-dividend tomorrow ?
2: are you not able to divide £20,000 by the current share price then multiply the amount of shares by the dividend amount.
3: should you really be buying shares ?

Ex-Dividend day is like it says, it is ex. The person buying the share after the 8.00am open on the ex-dividend doesn't get the dividend. So the person that still owned it at the close the day before gets it.
You can't get a dividend by buying a share on ex-Dividend day, likewise you can't lose a Dividend by selling on Ex-Dividend day.
