In a new blow to the DF sports sector Vantiv payment processor to ( FanDuel & DraftKings) and responsible for processing millions of $ in deposits & withdrawals has written to the companies saying it will "suspend all processing of transactions for clients involved in DFS operations as of Feb 29th. The letter to operators referenced an "increasing number of state attorneys have determined that DFS constitutes illegal gambling and the current legal state of DFS is too vague for them to operate in the industry" The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act places legal liability on payment processors as well as operators of gambling sites. Vantiv (plc) saw it's stock rise 6% on the news though DK said it had yet to hear from Vantiv. Whatever, DFS operators have a major headache to find a replacement before Feb 29th.

That Netplay offered £100m. Turned down by Spo bod who preferred to have an auction. Don't buy that. Spo would have taken £100m in a heartbeat! Only reason to turn down that offer was if Spo were certain of a £100m+ one was in play! Looking at the vols and static sp it's poss that the mrkt thinks none of the competing bids have come up to scratch. If so the sooner were told the better, as surely by now the bod should know which offer is the best and can/not be recommended to holders. It won't be the end of the world if the offers don't meet the Co valuation, we'll have to struggle on with ebita of c £12-16m. Heh we could float the Pools as a separate business er....Perhaps not! C'mon Spo..........Pools out or in?

Gets a sell recommend from Questor of the DTel....expensive on 16x earnings. My take they are far too reliant on FOBT's which provide 50% of revenues from such a small footfall, that's unsustainable imo. Once the machine junkies have been bled dry where is the next generation of mugs coming from? Euro 2016 might flatter earnings this year but I would not bet on it.

I have always tried to view the Pools division as a stand alone business supporting 100m equity and earning £15m pre tax or c 15pps. So the £100m valuation would no be far out which is only c 10x eps hardly challenging. Let's face it the Pools never recovered from the lottery which imo was an impossible task anyway but hats off to Penrose for keeping the profits ticking over these last 10 years. Whether throwing more money at the pools would have helped I don't know? The lottery has been bleeding customers for years (nobody talks about that) and now with an extra 10 nos this could possibly be the turning point for the Pools in the hands of a slick operator.

Guess what Spo grants extension!!...only kidding but wouldn't be surprised! Timing a bit off this time better to have coincided with vat case in April, oh well can't have everything. Trading statement showed Group revenues broadly flat (-1%) with US growth (+12%) ahead of core markets (+11%). Gross win margins across the region's were up. With Euro 2016 round the corner their online margins a poor 4% are set to lead the way. If I was holding I'd be reasonably happy.

Concur bags the wording of the Netplay statement was deliberately vague ergo: preliminary talks to acquire asset (s). My thoughts were the Pools were the main attraction and was Netplays target not the entire Co. If Netplay had made a full bid that would have to be disclosed to the market who I'm fairly sure took their statement to mean the Pools assets only. Either way they couldn't satisfy our valuation which is their loss I think. Totally agree that Spo ex Pools is only worth c10p is plainly ridiculous but I'm in an o.lie that has c 484mmboe that the market values at zero...yes zero! I mean the market is never wrong......right? The CAL licenses situation is still a black mark against the Co (never fully explained) but we are doing business in San Diego that requires licenses so it may not all be bad and im sure being of previous fit & proper persons we would have little trouble securing the right paperwork! I believe the Co are very keen to expand into the FS games place as the numbers are quite staggering, 56m regular games players for starters!......wow!!! I'd lay you 1-3 that we will acquire DraftDay and others this year if the way ahead becomes clearer. Though lots of states have ruled FS games to be 'gambling' not all by a long way have so ruled, CAL for one! I'm very bullish on this sector of the leisure business. Look to Friday 15th for drawing of stumps and a statement before end of Jan.
