Better wk for techs now c.28% down ytd nos (Nsdq u/c). Idea rose 5 on the Medforce acquisition but u/c on the Easter wk close. Mfocus and Sage closed higher. With US markets tanking on Friday expect volatility to continue on trade worries with London on the back foot - could easily be 50 off at open as the Nikkei is called 150 lower. Much will depend on how traders view the Dows chances of coming back from Fridays 572 fall.

That's a risk we have lived with for many a year. Unfortunately the pay master calls the tune, they know we would never 'down tools' that's a legal nightmare for us v a rogue State. However the KRG have cont to pay us and with an improving bank balance and oil price - looks set to cont on a regular basis. Thats a big de- risked metric in our favour. I cannot see a reason why the KRG would stop/delay payments --outside of ISIS becoming a bloody nuisance again. Half year due c. early Aug will see a bump in rev & earnings. Yea agreed sparky but increasing your eps is v. important as an immediate guide for investors. G has a ridiculous pe/r but great fcf.

H...wot you doing asking when to sell? C'mon you know noone can/will give you advice on that question. My thoughts are I always bought too early and sold too late so for sure don't listen to anything I have to say on the subject. If your having sleepless nights or are overly worried about your investment then....i'd be selling. I think having a lump of cash this year could prove more beneficial through '18....than holding risk assets your majorly in profit on....just in case mrkts go tits up. As ever its how brave you are you that will guide you. I know what i'd be doing if I was making serious money on G and that would be protecting my gains! Profits in G were very hard to come by.....and they are easily lost. You have a target of 300 i dont see why G cannot reach that no which is a fair way North of here and given Trumps does not do anything silly --- should be achievable. But as you know a bird in the hand is said to be worth two in the bush which as i know can turn into no birds...no bloody bush. On that basis if I was up £70k+ i'd def bank a goodly % of profits just to keep the Mrs happy. That's what I think today. Tomorrow i'd be thinking what if oil at $70-100? What if gas prices rocket? What if Somali oil in place is akin to the Ghawar field? Wtf if?...Stay with it....for chrissssakes i'll make way more money....hold your nerve JL...see the problem? Is time on your side H? If so, that makes a huge difference to your eventual gain. Hope we hit 300 and sooonissssh and you can cash out your G certs and go tap dancing down your local.

Oh yes sparky...not to mention if China starts dumping their massive holdings of US debt. If they start to liquidate their £850bn holdings of Treasury debt into other currencies jeez think what this might do to markets. Not good! Might crater the US bond mrkts just when Trumps relaxation of the US budget hits a $ trillion. This would kibosh US mortgages and consumer credit and put a bomb under Wall St. If China thinks US fiscal policy is out of control....well who knows especially as Chinas commerce ministry upped the rhetoric re talks about 'things that go beyond trade matters' China does not buy enough US imports to match Trumps $100bn levies to match it. End of day the US treasury could snap up more than $3trillion under QE option it could soak up Chinas dumping of US debt. Whatever happens i cannot see China going for the nucleur option which would engulf world markets. The global mayhem would crash Chinas equity and bond markets and most likely start a mad panic into US dollars sending the $ skywards. Has China much to gain? I doubt it. Cooler heads might prevail hoping Trumps forgives decades of tech piracy by the Chinese. Flip a coin on that count. Best Trumps goes about building that wall and leaves economic matters to those who have half an idea.

Dodge...thank you for your psychological analysis. I dont recognise myself but then do we ever see ourselves as others see us? I think you should know that i allow myself some 'artistic license'....know wot i mean like...when commentating on bets etc, factually they are true but mainly I poke fun and i sure as hell don't take myself seriously. I rarely if ever talk about winning...Heh heh, I do occasionally you know but we all know losing in the long run happens to most punters. Manage your losing runs, have fun and you should do ok. I had my first bet while at school 2/6 ew on ESB in the '56 National that was big money for a 13 year old, it won and I was hooked! I'm still here so must have been doing something right all these years! Dodge, have no fear of my involvement in G....that's in the win column so you can rest easy.

Another volatile week ended with US stocks hammered on Friday. Trumps fresh round of tariffs, a mere $100bn and a worse than expected jobs report just 103.000 new jobs when 170.000 was expected was just the excuse invstrs needed to sell. All 30 constituents on the DJ fell led by Caterpillar, Boeing, 3MCo & Visa all c.3%. Techs were off 161 and the S&P down 58. The Dow (-572) for a ytd decline of 3%. These were the daily moves on the Dow (-459/+389/+231/+241/-572) making (-170) on wk. London fared a little better the ftse up 127, the A/S (+60), 250 (+70) and S/caps added 44 all on the wk. Little change to the nos. Oil$66.93 Gold$1334 - Bcon $6778 - Vix 21. It aint been a good wk for the shorters -- G adding c.10 on wk and 66% up ytd. Have a good weekend all.

Well I have covered my bet on Stenson (a side bet he would finish in top 3 after rnd 1)...phew! I'm now betting the turnip will revert to form and crap out of top 10 by the cut. I have consigned my £1500 winnings to the Battersey Dogs home for impoverished Genel shareholders whence I will be holding a midnight vigil to bemoan our fate (drinks not inc). Some might say..."whaddya mean the sp is up 6 today so why the carping, it's all good innit"? . I'd say "so what we were 127 without the last few positive good news reports....particularly a pre tax boost of $1m to the bottom line". So get a life. Sp's rarely, if ever indicate the value of a companies assets that's a lesson I have learnt the hard way. Wish it were different but that's life in the stock market casino of the 2018's.

If todays performance does not prompt you to sell i dont know what will? Can't say im that surprised as the mrkt rarely focusses on the plusses of good news from Co announcements...I mean they wouldn't would they? -- much preferring to trim sp's and think management have got it wrong...so ask questions later when they will inevitably be proved right as loose holders dump stock. Short term i'd agree after all a clock is right twice a day and shorting Idea is the play if your a Bear. At 114/5 it's on a knife edge for me, next few moves will decide whether I stay or go.
