Jan 2009 to present...a decade of?28 Dec 2018 08:14
I'll skip 2008 as we all know what a bummer that turned out to be...in fact the second worst year for stocks since 1929 and a 25%
fall in sterling hitting invstrs with a double whammy.
The collapse of Lehman in Sept sent the ftse into a tailspin recording its worst % days fall in Oct when it lost 9% and 21% on the week.
The ftse closed 2008 down 31% when it had to cope with the recapitalisation of 3 banks, cutting rates to 2%, crude hitting $147, £4bn RI from HBOS and Northern Rock being nationalised.
So 2009 was going to be a stellar recovery year for stocks and mrkts? Stellar no.... but a recovery yes.
The openning nos Jan 2, 2009.
