Mrkt nos..5 Jul 2019 06:28
Very quiet in Asia this morning after the record busting US mrkts continue to post all time highs.
Only HK is in the black up 47, TK & SH flat to lower by a few points. Pan Pacifics (Indonesia, S'pore, Malaya etc) tend to follow the Nikkei and are all in the red, Australia's ASX200 bucks the trend gaining 0.5% and nears the record high of (6851) set in 2007.
With little guidance from trade negotiations investors see signs that global monetary policy will become more stimulative in the months ahead as two 'easy money' Trump men have been elected to the Fed Advisory Board.
Until concrete proposals are agreed to settle this trade war mrkts will 'tred lower'. With no face- to- face meets arranged talks cont via the 'squawk box'.
London was little changed yesterday. Ftse (7604) All (4148) & Aim (917) slightly down, the 250 & small caps just in the black. Main talking points were JLRs switch to 'electric' cars saving thousands of jobs, while Bill Hill sheds 4500 staff on 800 'shop' closures due to the spin count lowered from £100 to £2 cratering profits and cash flows.
Serve'em right they have screwed punters for too long by cramping the sp, closing winning accounts and using penal long out of date rules. As Sads say 'when the fun stops, Stop'. Yea right! Good riddance.
Regardless, it's the stated aim to close all shops and drive customers on line.
Lots will not bother (preferring anonymity) and will use illegal local 'players' who deal strictly in cash.
