I got in touch with NICE this morning to request further clarification on the timetable/process and their response was as follows:

If no substantial issues are raised during consultation, we intend to proceed to the resolution stage of the process and then to publish final guidance. The resolution stage of the process is a final quality assurance step. Further details are available in section 7.2 of our manual here. If substantial issues are raised by stakeholders, that require further committee discussion a further meeting may be arranged. At present we have no further committee meetings planned for this evaluation.

Consultation on draft recommendations will run from 29 Jan to 9th Feb.

NICE have just updated the timetable for the stroke test with a publication date of 8th May . Consultation 29th Jan to 9th Feb.

I still remain convinced that if a placing is being planned, they wont want to do it at these levels. They will want to get the good news out, the SP rockets , then they do the placing.

Roger65, I agree with one of your earlier posts around the SP being much higher before any possible raise. I do also think a JV with a US partner funding the costs in return for a slice of the action is a real possibility too.

Have looked at others and they take between 1-3 months.

If indeed there does need to be a public consultation then I can't see it holding the roll out much as the preparation can be undertaken concurrently. I cant see it also being a controversial consultation given the clear health and financial benefits to babies and the NHS.

Agree Roger65 - I think I remember a figure of c8m pa if AIHL was rolled out throughout the UK. What I dont know if specialist commissioning status was given, does that provide fund Trusts to purchase AIHL as a full NICE recommendation would (I think). Remember Mr Cheek said he was 100% sure specialist commissioning would happen and he was working very hard to make it happen sooner rather than later.

An exciting few days ahead esp if we get clarity on the FDA route and partners. Could we get to 20p with two stellar RNS's ?!?

Roger65, correct me please if I am wrong but in the pre Christmas presentation, James Cheek was very clear that he needed addituonal funding for the FDA process and not 'to keep the lights on' as you so elegantly put it?
