Still hard to know why Irish Banks are taking such a kicking:

No lending to FDI companies

No real commercial lending ie to tariff hit Kerrygold or Diageo etc.

No big trading desks

Stuffed full of cheap deposits so no risk on markets

Mortgage books in good shape - massive shortage of housing so no price drops on the horizon

Is it profit taking / chance of interest rate cuts?

I was just thinking the same thing, all the hot air about Nvidia / Tesla / Crypto…..all hyped to the heavens!

So glad we spent our profits on buybacks…..genius policy! A stonking great big dividend should become our motto……stop this trendy BB nonsense…….down with that sort of thing!

A little off topic but as there are only tumbleweeds on the AIB forum, what is a directed buyback? Do they reduce the overall shares in issue or is it just a change in ownership?

Even with the recent gains, our little star is still trailing AIB:

BOI €11.41B

With Davys €14.90 sp we are still behind AIB say 950m shares @ €14.90 giving €14.155B.

The way the guidance is framed you would imagine an interim dividend again this year, say €0.30 in November?
