Talk of a merger between Starlink and Tesla, I'd guess this is designed for Elon's benefit more than anyone else's and it'll trigger some form of massive share bonus to the man.

I just don't see where the massive revenue is coming from long term, all seems to rely on a government wanting to pay Elon Musk to take them to Mars. I'd guess that there is a small chance that someone will do so, but only once. Whilst I am excited to say we've been to Mars, can't see many governments thinking it would be worth the trillion dollar expense. I imagine the moonbase will quickly become a money pit that will be hard to justify. Again interesting, but I think every sci-fi book and film seems to ignore why mining on the moon is such a good idea.

That being said I signed up to a new share platform and it gave me a free share in SpaceX so I'm back in!

J4F - I sold out similar, possibly didn’t time it as well as you. I though lt it was a risky buy at $135 but thought initial demand would push it up. I’m probably a buyer again below this tbh.

Zanab - I could buy back in at less than I sold for, selling looking like a good move right now. I'm not going to buy back in, I might when it drops below the IPO price.

I think we will be seeing more down days then up. I think people's wildly optimistic assessments are not going to come to pass, and more people will be realising making a decent return on your money for a couple of weeks is where we are at. I'm not the most risky investor, I've certainly sold out a bit early in many cases but I've also made a lot of money (often several times) when others have lost.

Best case scenario here is that SpaceX becomes the biggest company in the world but I doubt it'll be the case any time soon. I would imagine we have an AI stocks crash long before then.

Mars is an interesting notion, sounds like a massive money pit with very little upside except to show it can be done. If SpaceX does it, you need to think about who is paying for it.

I imagine the long term position for SpaceX will be Elon and his real shareholders deciding to release another $50bn of shares every so often to the public to basically fund the operation and only marginally diluting their shareholdings due to the massive share price.

I've no idea at all. All I would say is the share is seldom traded and if someone wants out at any sort of volume it'll cost you. But to be honest looking at the trades, the volume of sales is practically zero. It struggled to sell me £30 of shares a few minutes ago.

I would suggest it is complete lack of interest in the share, we've had a sizeable dividend of 40p gone ex recently which will account for some of it.

Zanab - I sold as well. Good money for a few days work (or as Karl Marx would say no work). I'm guessing the demand might pump it a little more, I'm not convinced to be honest. We're not in a Tesla situation here, where the share price started modestly, the company was already worth a fortune before it started, realistically is it going to be worth much more than double that in the short/medium term? Based on how they allocated the shares, anyone would be struggling to "get rich" (I had 9 shares) unless they were buying in excessively at the even more inflated prices. I think it was a decent investment at the opening price, much less so now. Happy to be proven wrong - I'm fairly cautious as an investor tbh, it has worked both ways. I've made decent money from several speculative investments including this one, but also missed the boat several times by bailing too early. That being said by bailing early, I've certainly made money (which can't necessarily be said for everyone who claimed to be LTH) waiting for their ten bagger.

Freetrade don't seem to have a timescale either.

Interestingly I'm seeing some folks being offered free P&O cruises, seems to be a little hazy as to why people have been selected, but mostly it seems to be down to having spent a lot of money in a casino. Wonder if they're getting into the RCL model, or maybe its better to give unpopular cruises to people who will lose money in the casino, than sell them cheap

Got a non-update from Freetrade that they're having to transfer it over and its taking a while, guessing they're getting a few queries. Whilst the price is falling I'm not overly fussed, realistically I'm just trying to buy my son 100 shares.

They have random shares on Freetrade you cannot buy, so I get the UK ones are suspended but why can’t I buy US ones?

Give it a week. I go through peaks and troughs with shares, but I always keep my CCL ones for the OBC. Will have to leave if I can’t have them

I just assumed we’d use the US one on here.

Good News for my son as I was going to buy him some CCL shares on Friday but his JISA hasn't transferred to freetrade yet, so he's approximately 7% better off. I can see them coming on cruises with us for a good while longer yet, but I don't feel like sharing a room with two adults in bunk beds. So thought he could have his own OBC.

It's not really true if you live there though, the per capita GDP is something they like to trumpet but it really can't be a measure you can use when there is 4000 people. If they doubled the population (something they seem to be aiming for) then the measure would be be pretty average. As soon as you need a new port and they need to borrow £160m, they're probably one of the most impoverished nations per capita.

You can use the per capita rating to make yourself sound great, used to use it myself if we wanted to make it look like we've achieved something. The parkrun for example - only parkrun int he world where participation is 100%+ of the population. 40 people on a good day does that when you've run it over 100 times.

It's hard to see you're one of the richest people in the world when you're scrabbling around on a meagre pension and the government tells you they can't afford to increase it (I mean they can, they don't).

I would say it is something of a boom time for the place, to be honest it always was, if you've got a trade (spark, builder, etc.) then it'd be a great place to make some cash (also nothing to spend it on) and there is always more work than people to do it.

I'd think any oil project outside of either a dodgy region or a regime we don't much like, has a good upside. I can't believe we're not drilling more in the North Sea - surely it can't be hard to realise that we're not using less oil, just buying it from Saudi Arabia. It then seems a bit much to have a go at Ivan Toney or some other football player plying his trade in a regime full of human rights abuses whilst every tank of fuel in our cars must get oil from them.

They do the current Search and Rescue for the military there, so an ideal choice.

A friend of mine in the Falkland Islands had a glass cube with some Falkland Islands oil in it, it had the logo of shell or BP, I forget which. I always admired it and hoped she'd let me keep it, but she didn't. Clearly from the long distant past (prior to 2015 anyway). She arrived after the war, possibly it was from the 90's.
