RE: Disruption energy and transport28 Sep 2019 14:38
Absolutely Ivybush,
There's very little governments can do other than regulation and providing subsidies to speed up the transition to EV's, Solar and Wind are now competitive subsidy-free but they could put some schemes in place to provide a stimulus to speed the uptake.
Once again, I'll refer to Tony Seba when he said the green influence will be green as in the colour of the dollar, however that was a few years before the appearance of Greta Thunberg!
So, I'm looking forward to major announcements globally for significant investment in storage and transport, solar and wind are already growing significantly wind CAGR of 25% + and Solar around 15% and so plenty of capacity for storage. Battery storage CAGR figures are silly percentages depending on what you read Wood Mackenzie had it at 74% back in April
As far as the causes of climate change and people’s views have no significance to me other than people are asking why gamble with fossil fuels when there's an alternative?
How to win votes!
Bristol City Leap, an ambitious project to deliver a zero-carbon, smart energy city by 2030, is today launching a global search to deliver up to £1 billion of investment and provide -- significant economic benefits for the people of Bristol -- and its businesses.
Oxford is planning to be zero emissions by 2035.
It might be a few years before you see that happening in Aberdeen but elsewhere very soon IMVHO and my vote will be swayed by those offering cheaper cleaner energy.
This isn’t the place to debate the causes of climate change we are all entitled to our views but bladehater as you mentioned NASA:
https://climate.nasa.gov/scientific-consensus/
Multiple studies published in peer-reviewed scientific journals1 show that 97 percent or more of actively publishing climate scientists agree*: Climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities. In addition, most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position. The following is a partial list of these organizations, along with links to their published statements and a selection of related resources.
I’m tending to side with the 97% of views and would rather not gamble that the 3% are correct when as mentioned there’s no real need to take that risk.
