Newboy,
'Surely with the changes being made to efficiency etc and non core asset sales that will pay down debt'
Paying down debt is a good thing if you have the revenues to do so.
I have been a long term shareholder of centrica for longer than I care to think about and just taken the script new shares instead of the dividends.
What worries me more than anything else is the current business model, ie in the blurb it talks about being customer facing and a moving away from O&G exploration etc, etc, but where is it going? ,apart from their ownership of Spirit Energy and tie in with Hurricane Energy.
No, the big thing for me is the sale of Gas to homeowners.
Now that the government, ie EU promoted I think, has decided to ban all gas boilers new homes in the UK from 2025, where does that leave Centrica?, up a creek I would say without a paddle.
I have also read that Centrica are looking to get into the Electric Vehicle charging market, that is going to take several years to develop and they will be competing with the likes of Shell and BP whom are also looking at that market sector.
The other issue I have is with Centrica's management. I cannot understand why the investment institutions have not demanded change at the top. How this guy Conn whom is conning us all, can get a 44% pay rise when the share price has fallen like a lead balloon over the last few years is absolutely staggering.
There's nowt like being sat on yer milking stool and milking it for all you can get, and that is what Conn is doing IMHO.
Actions required imo are remove Conn asap, change the business model or die.
