Here we go again - another poster boasting of their humungous holding. We read this on every small cap bill board. Why disclose your holding? Is it to encourage the vulnerable to over commit and endanger their own finances. Well done if you have such a holding and are already up £100k or so. If it were me I’d top slice rather than risk a potentially destructive dilution. Each to their own strategy!

Many of us were very rich holding XEL GKP RRL and many others. Many of us were wiped out. Were they world class discoveries and assets? Most definitely. Did shareholders win ultimately ? Not a in the slightest. There are many excited younger investors here dreaming of great riches. Investing has a nasty habit of biting hard like a venomous snake. All I am saying is be very careful in dismissing the experienced among us.

Each to their own but my experience, and I have decades worth, has taught me that nearly every time I have made a small fortune on a minor stock I have invariably lost the lot in the end. Of course OMI might buck the trend but now older bruised and wiser I always take profits and it is far far more lucrative. Many modest gains add up to way more than hoping for just one or two big wins. Each to their own of course.

FAO Devon your travelling plans sound wonderful. I can vouch for the pleasure and freedom of travelling in your own mobile accommodation but it took me till late 50s to achieve it. My only advice is don’t ever treat any investment as a probably success. I lost a lot on RRL and XEL and GKP all regarded at “dead certs” in the day as you will know. This may well succeed and if it gets to 35p I will be delighted. Dream big by all means but don’t put all your emotional energy into relying on it. Good luck.
