I don't think it's Market Makers who cause tree shakes, it's the herd mentality of day traders. "Oh gosh, the price is falling, I must sell to secure my profit", and the downward avalanche starts.

My Jobber (market maker) aims to keep say 50,000 shares on his book. If he is getting more buyers than sellers then he pushes up the Ask price for his shares, and if he needs more stock he also pushes up the Bid price to encourage people to sell to him. The opposite also happens, more people wanting to sell, and his prices falls. Therefore buyers and sellers are always in perfect balance. Today with IQE things are holding steady. There is no upward or downward pressure on the shares. The volume is high, so lots of trading today. Lots of people thinking it's time to sell, and lots thinking it's time to buy.

Will Apple's results tonight cause IQE shares to sink to 80p? Will Apple's results tonight let IQE shares surge to 120p or beyond? Methinks they might not make any difference to what we have seen over the last week. By the way, I have my long term holding in IQE which I bought back in August 2016, but I have been for the last week trading the highs and lows with an additional 20%. stake. Maybe it's luck, but I've made 20% on those shares. ~John~

Are folks taking a break from their computers after a a fraughtfull week gone by? I topped up, seeing this short selling raid as an opportunity. Will it go down to 80p as many are suggesting on this board? well you live and learn. I have been taking comfort in the fact that our Big American Instutional holder, T Rowe Price International, now own over 10%, and see IQE as a sound Long Term Investment. Me too.

RNS today 13.05 Acacia notes the press release issued by the Office of the President of Tanzania earlier today following a meeting between President of Tanzania H.E. Dr. John P. Magufuli and John Thornton, the Executive Chairman of Barrick Gold Corporation (“Barrick”), Acacia’s majority shareholder. The release states that Barrick and the Government of Tanzania have agreed to enter into discussions in order to reach a mutually acceptable solution to the issues relating to the ban on the export of gold/copper concentrates as well as the future framework for Acacia’s operations in Tanzania.

Peel Hunt today reaffirms its buy investment rating on Shanta Gold Ltd (LON:SHG) and raised its price target to 16p (from 14p).

SP Angel today reaffirms its buy investment rating on Shanta Gold Ltd (LON:SHG) and set its price target at 12.20p.

I cashed in (sold) my shares in IAE last Monday with TD for 112.75p. The sale did not go through immediatly, but I was told it was "Pending". Oh gosh I thought, but in a minute or two later it was confirmed (executed). I had not responded to the action required notice. I rember a year or so ago (with Darty) I had accepted the offer, and subsequently tried to Sell, which I couldn't do. TD told me on the phone this was because I had accepted the offer, and would have to await the payout (which I eventually got).

Good results today, and it's lifted the Share Price from it's recent low. The poly metal mine at Novo is doing very well, and the doubling of mill capacity which is ongoing make it the star performer. MNV is doing well too, but BelaGora continues to give problems. It's interesting to see the Kasak prospect at Unkurtash is mentioned. Will they find a partner? They have been trying for a year or so now.

Thanks to all who post on this board. I have read with great interest the latest presentations from Shanta. I like what I see, and have added to my holdings in the company. I wonder if is just sentiment holding the share price down. My 35 years of experience with shares has taught me that some companies are just undervalued by the market, and hopefully with Shanta that will change. Be patient. dubious ~ No he won't. We don't have a Capital Gains Tax in Jersey. But on the downside we don't have ISAs or SIPPs, so I have to pay 20% Income tax on all my dividends. Many British / Global trading companies have a tax base in Jersey, as we have 0% Corporation Tax. Ashtead doesn't, I'm told because they have to declare all their US earnings to US authorities, and ditto in the UK.

Oh Ashtead how I loved you. 15,000 at 65p, back in 2001. 15 years later I have sold my last remaining 7,000 on Wednesday. £207k profit. Here's hoping Animex will do the same.

Barclays Capital today reaffirms its overweight investment rating on Crest Nicholson Holdings Plc (LON:CRST) and raised its price target to 628p (from 595p).

I thought this was an excellent set of results, and an excellent dividend. So this-morning I switched half my Telford holding (which has done little other than a good divi) over to CRST, which is, as has always been, my biggest building sector holding. ~John~

This is a very quiet board, for what I find a very interesting company. I have spent many a pleasent hour searching Google maps and Photos, and Wikipedia too, for information on the mines, developments, and areas in which HGM operate. It's difficult to get these Russian names to stick in my ageing brain though. Firstly Precious Metal price rigging. I'm not sure I understand it, but is it that the trade in paper gold (10x the ammount of tangiable gold?) is a market in itself, and this affects tangiable gold price. I am in two minds wether this is posetive or negative, so I will let things be.
