The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Only a million? Why do you get so wound up over a fairly small investment? I thought you'd own a couple of % of the company the way you go on...
No I didn't read it. I'm not usually that much into following geopolitical stuff (though my son teaches it at Helsinki Uni) Strange that the Taliban seem happier to deal with the Chinese who are subjecting their fellow Muslim Uighurs to genocide. Mad world, you're right. I do remember that Trump was ready to get the chequebook out to buy Greenland so they must be confident of what lies underground there. It is on their doorstep and holds a lot of promise, but most of it is under ice a couple of kms thick.
Someone mentioned on another BB that Afghanistan may have $1tn worth of minerals. China getting into bed with the Taliban and the US leaving quickly and quietly? Has a deal been done for the Chinese to have first dibs on Afghan minerals while the US gets a free run at Greenland?
Ordinarily it would be no sweat for a big miner to buy us up and then divest the parts that they aren't interested in developing, but still they will want to know what they're buying, and there's no way of evaluating that until we get firm JORCable drill results in. The GL deposits are easier to scope out than Clogau, which would be difficult to value as it will only yield up the full secrets of average gold grades once we are well into bulk mining and processing.
Life's too short to spend too much time on AIM BBs. Now that she's double jabbed I hope Mapp's out dancing on tabletops again! :-)
Better to sell up and go away then...
It's because it was flooded and also said to contain visible gold prior to being abandoned to the rising water that the Llechfraich mine is to be the first target. There are other targets but it's obviously much easier to pump out water than to excavate a new mine, and start the revenue ASAP.
We don't have much in the way of proven assets yet, hence the current s/p. Give them a chance to drill and get the GL results out plus get the dewatering permit. If all's good then we should start to move.
Hope you're right SeisNav, but as others have said the silence is deafening when there ought to be plenty to update us about. Perhaps they are hanging on until the result of the Zambian election is known?
Just as long as it's not 'UK Red Herring Resources Limited UK' ;-)
I suppose they will want to accentuate any positives and downplay the negatives since there's an IPO around the corner...
Layla1, my agenda is to try and recoup the £100k I am down over the years mainly through only listening to positive messages from BoDs and BB posters, and paying little heed to doubts.
I don't want to sound picky but how can you call only completing 8 holes out of a planned 15 hole drilling campaign 'successful'?
"Of the five drill pads that had been prepared, only Pads A, B, C, and E were utilised. The most northerly location, Pad D, was not reached due to technical issues. All eight completed holes intersected graphite mineralisation, two from Pad A, three from Pad B and three from Pad E. A total of 935m were drilled. This was down on the planned 15 holes for up to 1,700 metres, principally due to ground conditions at Pads C and D. Although drilling was commenced from Pad C, it did not manage to attain the required depths to intersect the expected graphite horizons due to ground conditions. This will be revisited in the next drilling programme, using different techniques to counteract the ground conditions."
It's like Team GB going for 25 gold medals, only attaining 15 but still calling it a success...
Some people shouldn't be let loose with a share trading account. In fact I think there ought to be a basic stock matket training course you have to pass before you're allowed to participate.
Or it's his job...;-)
Mapp, as it was once said 'it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to inherit the Kingdom of heaven' perhaps we should be thanking these crooks for impoverishing us prior to our departing for the pearly gates? (which will no doubt be slammed shut in Zaza's face!) ;-)
Have to hold my hands up and admit I was wrong about the amount of gold they would find in the tailings. I really thought the old miners would miss very little and what was left would be uneconomical to process. Let's hope timely permission to begin the extraction is on its way.
Lot of chippy noobs around today. The email must have gone around the boiler room for one last assault on the die hard holders. CB has lost his mojo, is repetitive and of little entertainment value these days so it's down to the back up FUD spreader team to try and rock the boat.
@elir71. I agree with most of what you say but I think you may be too optimistic on the timelines as the samples will have to be independently assessed, and as we know delays are quite likely.
Aaahh, another soap about greed and subterfuge in the oil industry, I am looking forward to the final episode which will leave us all hanging with the question "Who shot ZM?" :-)
