Donald didn't trust Huawei either - Openreach were one of any number of companies, required to replace Huawei tech - and from memory, they had seven years to do it.
Half of the DSLAMs installed in the UK at the time the seven year clock began ticking, were Huawei - the other half being Israeli (ECI). A few Nokia and Adtran DSLAMs have been introduced in more recent years, but very little of this Chinese 'street furniture' has been removed - or the exchange equipment that drives them.
It would be interesting to know how much Huawei kit resides in US telephone exchanges, after Donald said it should be banned during his first term.
