It is for further projects, no doubt about it IMHO. What I think is becoming clear is that LC / Kibo are trying to create themselves as an ‘Umbrella’ for SEPCO and GE to launch themselves into the lower half of Africa. That will mean aggressively taking on 2 to 3 new projects I would think. Now, the interesting part for me (to show itself before 30 September) is just what SEPCO are willing to pay for this pleasure?

The game here however has changed, it’s all about long term empire building with two giants and to be blunt, I don’t think they could give two hoots about short term SP anymore.

It’s not for us (PIs), Bcl42. It is a Corporate Presentation with very little meat on the bones for PI’s. It’s for the like of new potential investors such as Sanderson, Sechaba, Sepco3, etc. There is a clear move away over the last year from the likes of us to larger investors, that will be to the benefit of the SP (eventually).

As for the change in Legal Advisor, that happens dozens of times a day in business, when senior people change jobs, clients follow them, simple as that.

To be fair, NCCL is also probably a case of ‘when’ not if, just as we are, the problem (for us PIs) is the when. To be fair of Tanzy and MoZ they have scant experience in delivering these projects so it is understandable to a degree that they want to take their time and get best value for money, as s proportion of GDP these deals are huge to both countries. JD

It doesn’t even say that, it’s pretty open ended that RNS, could be months of delays, and that sums up pretty well what Kibo have been going through in Tanzania, this is the price of doing business in Africa, delays, procrastination and frustration are the norm not the exception. JD

Coal is cheap as chips, once the infrastructure is in place around it the price per kilowatt hours can be next to nothing, the gap up from 300 to 600 Mw will show massive savings considering the Coal only has a few hundred metres to travel to the furnace at MCPP. SEPCO are here for a good reason, me must keep reminding ourselves of that. JD

The key part is: ‘Tanzania, which has discovered recoverable natural gas estimated at 57 trillion cubic feet, envisages a larger role for natural gas in the future energy mix, with gas-fired power plant capacity anticipated to grow from 1,501MW in 2015 to 4,915 MW in 2040, according to the country’s power masterplan.’ Again, all part of the ‘masterplan’ And so is coal..... There is clearly a very joined up strategy being undertaken here by Tanesco to ensure the country has an electrical grid / transmission line fit for their stated goal of ‘industrialisation’ before embarking on power projects that have nowhere for the power to evacuate to. This didn’t come with much fanfare this announcement (not as much as the World Bank announcements) but clearly big news for would be power generators like us. Now all they need is the power to be hooked up to it...... JD

Clear to me, straight up equity investment in Kibo Energy PLC. Not the SPV (yet, they may well do that to). JD

You could read it that way (of course no one knows) that they put the 90 day backstop date on it to conclude the PPA and then they could then attempt a more accurate ‘valuation’ of what SEPCO’s buy in price should be when they know how ‘valuable’ the PPA is. JD
