Yes, good RNS and the drill programme is funded. Considering historical numbers, the drill should throw up some high Nickel percentages I would have though.

Kibo’s model to sell 300mw of each of MCPP and MCIPP onto the export market (Southern African Power Pool) seems to be a prudent place to be. The inter connectors to all countries is at or soon to be complete and when you consider the utterly dire position that Zimbabwe and South Africa are now in (it’s going to get a lot worse) and with power consumption in sub Sahara Africa due to double in the next 11 years we should be well placed to to reap our rewards. Well said Dave, in the hardest part of getting these deals over the line is the final 10% when all the other actors like lawyers and financiers come in to play, it gets hugely complicated and the ‘to do’ list to get the deal over the line gets longer and longer, it is what it is I’m afraid and you just need patience.

Getting private company, companies or governments to sign up to 25 years’ worth of coal supply and power offtake (these are numbers in the billions of dollars) isn’t that simple I’m sorry to say.

Gillie, that’s how I saw the MCPP update on 29 April, also. Their squeamishness on taking on a multi-decade PPA liability is probably based on the previous IPP disasters like the Symbian deal.

It may well be if they can spread the deal out over the export / home markets it would make them a whole lot more confident in talking it on and spread the financial risk, not to mention the fact that exporting power would make the TG some export dollars to boot.

SAPP have serious issues as the above article highlights and will require a doubling of installed energy by 2030, which is only 11 years away. That needs to come from somewhere.

Indeed, Gillie, the key issue here is Hydropower and putting all your energy eggs in one basket. Time and time again it comes back to ensuring you have a diversified portfolio of energy generation.

It is a very good opportunity for us with a ‘shovel ready’ project that can connect into the SAPP / EAPP. That said, our timeframes are now slipping again and LC needs to start hauling one (at least) of these projects across the line.

Will be very interesting indeed to see what the freshly mandated President of South Africa does to sort out the Energy Crisis in the country. Pro business and pro Coal it should bode well for our model of selling power via MCPP and MCIPP onto the South African Power Pool (SAPP). JD

Up 50% now on some of the best volume I have seen in a while on the JSE…….probably means sweet FA as it’s a highly volatile platform with much less volumes than LSE, after the exchange rate now 3.18p per share there. Interesting none the less IMHO. DYOR.
