WPP trading statement today doesn't fill me with confidence

There was nothing that I could see to provide me with a dose of positivity and the share price was being pushed about like a hooker's nickers.

Having said that, 2 directors making decent purchases is a positive and one has to acknowledge that. When the facts change I change my mind.

I agree Nige. It's been painful so I hope we get rewarded. I'm starting to feel more positive about the stock now that the Directors have bought. It seems to have really good momentum right now and I hope it continues. If Martin was to make a significant purchase now I think this could probably hit 100 relatively quickly

Unfortunately this dog is looking like wanting to revisit all time lows. They keep issuing new shares like confetti.

I fully agree redwine. We need less hype and more evidence that this is a profitable and stable company. Shorters increasing and Directors selling at 51p it just doesn't instill any confidence.

What's stopping me from selling is the fear that just as I sell the stock it might recover. I think the pain of going through that experience would be even greater than what I have encountered so far.

That doesn't stop me being bearish on the stock.

We should have known that Brady Brim selling at 51p only a month ago wouldn't bode well, the downtrend seems well established again sadly. Typical jam tomorrow stock

It's easy blame, continuously, the LSE. Whilst the LSE is indeed sh1"e, there are many companies that have flourished. S4 lacks credibility and it's revenues are declining. There is also a lot of uncertainty in the ad space so taking everything into account S4 is probably worth what it currently trades at, mid 40s.

Thank you for answering my direct question. I find it slightly disingenuous to keep calling this a sector downturn. Look at publicis, omnicom, accenture just to name a few, none of them have had the dramatic fall of S4, nor the extreme volatility. You call me a half glass empty chappie, yes being under water to the tune of 60% on a very large amount for a very long time now does make one slightly bitter, that's not my outlook necessarily in other areas of life so I found that comment slightly unfair, however, I'm prepared to take that one on the chin as I have indeed vented frequently and negatively.

The other point where I disagree with you is in regards to gen AI, saying its just being bandied about and that perhaps I shouldn't be invested here if that's my investment output. Gen AI is happening, the chip maker Nvidia valuation tells you the story, more and more companies are bringing the marketing side of things in house, fact. The big platforms are also enabling this process for small and medium businesses, hence the demand for chips.

When I started investing in S4, the AI thing wasn't a thing if you know what I mean.

Since then, with S4, there has been profit warnings, delayed accounts, going from a growth company to one with net revenues falling, the list goes on. Hardly, again, a sector specific and more like a company that has made mistakes, ie. Lack of transparency and forecasting to name some.

I appreciate you might have started to invest here whilst at all time lows and well done to you if so but please don't assume I didn't research this company when I started investing here and don't be overly critical when someone in my position does have a little rant. You yourself have mentioned in here at times how this gets pushed about and only traders seem to make money out of it. I did detect some frustration on your part at the time although, clearly, nowhere near to the same degree as I.

Thanks again for keeping things civilised and I do very much hope you are right in that this will turn eventually and make us a nice return, personally for me, breaking even would be a nice outcome

What makes you so confident that this is just a cyclical sector downturn rather than a more fundamental and existential shift?

I don't see you posting anything of value either so perhaps instead of attacking other's opinions just because they differ from yours , you should just accept that everyone is entitled to have their say as long as they don't offend!

As Nige, who is a true believer and a decent chap, said here a few days ago, this could be 35 or 60 in a few days so he felt unable to buy further. I concur with that view, uninvestable right now

My other option is to accept the reality of this moribund dog ad call it for what it is despite holding it.

I admire your optimism, however, the volatility together with the moribund price action tells you what you need to know. No decent company should need to rely on an interest cut in order to perform. It's always when this and that happens this would go up. We have bought a lemon mate, simple as that!

Another all time low with what should have been a positive for the FTSE250. It seems there is a coordinated effort to bring this down no matter what. The UK stock market is truly broken
