STAGECOACH SPLASHED OUT FOR TRAIN CONTRACT
New documents released by the Department for Transport under
the Freedom of Information Act have revealed that Stagecoach , the transport group, paid about 600 million pounds more
than the second suitor to retain the UK's biggest rail
franchise. The company agreed to pay 1.19 billion pounds for the
10-year South West Trains contract, twice as much as any of the
three other interested parties was willing to pay.
