Barryroe versus importing oil and LNG15 Feb 2020 15:21
Jesus, this is great stuff Manyana! I Love a lively debate.
It's a pity some elected politicians haven't the kahunas to fight for developing our own natural resources. Seriously, how can anyone argue that its better for the planet and financially feasible to import oil and LPG gas from halfway across the world versus developing our own natural resources?
Perhaps someone with knowledge could make a back of an envelope calculation on the potential financial windfall to the Irish people of developing our own resources versus importing oil and LPG?
There is also the carbon footprint of one against the other, never mind the mind blowing amount of energy needed for all the future data centres that are planned.
Lets all hope that this new green wave Providence Resources, will help to get things moving in our favour. Now all we need is someone to talk a little bit of common sense in the Dail.
I live in hope that Sinn Fein don't get their wish of another election. Perhaps, extracting our own natural resources would give us the revenue and energy security to implement some of their social agenda. This might at least appease the left voting public for the next general election in a few years time and we won't end up with a left run government coalition.
